I'm liking it. I've always had a thing for urban settings for FPSs, like FEAR, but Halo had been more SciFi fantasy or just wilderness with a few short sections being inside a ruined city. So I'm having fun with the idea of an open city to roam around in dealing with baddies that aren't always expecting you. I'm a little iffy on the idea of flashing between squad members and sort of enjoy playing the rookie section more, but I like the simple story and masses of Covenant to kill.

I played it at my friends, enjoyed it.
Is it worth 60 dollars? Hell to the No.

it really, REALLY could have been a 15-20 dollar expansion.

I picked it up today for £6 using trade in, money off way and it's been worth it so far.
P.S: Ignore my old post, I was lying.

I disagree... my first run through ended last night after 11 hours of play, and I found it well worth the money during play. I'm certainly going to go through the campaign at least once more, on Legendary difficulty to unlock that Achievement and to give myself a real work-out, to find the last half-dozen or so audio recordings in the game. Once I learned how to use the Superintendant's real-time tactical display I found I really enjoyed sweeping the streets. (And I never did try to start up one of the Elephants... I'd heard one of them might be drivable.)

I had one session of Firefight, solo, which whetted my appetite for more. I can see myself putting in a serious whack of time in that with my Friends.

And I haven't even touched the second disc in the set yet.

PS: I picked up the Special Edition for the controller, and I rather like that component too. Plus, it was cheaper to go that route than buy ODST by itself and then get a replacement for the original, now somewhat gimpy after three years, wireless controller for my 360.

I never liked Halo anyway, but I played this since the people I was with like it. It was really short. REALLY short. Took about 4 hours on heroic. Then we played firefight on legendary and killed about 4 grunts between 2 of us before dying terrifyingly quick deaths. I liked it even less than it's predecessors, and that's saying something.

The story seemed schizofrenic (in addition to short), and how did the rookie gain technometry? Firefight takes far too long and thus has little replay value. The story is (again) too short and too shit to make me want to play it again, and while not being an indestructible super-soldier was a great change of pace, being horribly inefficient and misinformed is not. (I thought the health thing was quite well done though, even with there being random health packs bloody everywhere for no good reason.)

I only really like firefight, and the characters. Master chief is a failure as a character, so it's not too hard to improve off it. But yeah this game really isn't worth the 60 bucks.

*edit* everything else is just a glorified fetch quest. I did like the recordings you could find, that told the story of Sofia(alteast I think thats her name).

I am really enjoying it so far. I love the re-introduction of medipacks into an fps. And i love running round with the suppressed smg. Its almost useless on legendary but its still fun.
I was a little dissapointed with the pistol though. I thought it would be stronger. Now if you will excuse me, i still need to finish the campaign. What? its hard doing it on legendary by your lonesome
Yes..yes it is. I've been playing Legendary and Im
at the part when you rescue the Captain
..I did take a break and play some firefight last night.

Hmm the poll options didn't really cover my feelings. I hated the city hub thing and that killed any enjoyment I might have found in the game. Knowing I would have to repeatedly go back to the dead city looking for a piece of crap to get back into the fun turned me off. They found the best way to turn me off of a game. Make sure I am lost and forced to wander aimlessly for a half an hour at a time.

Halo 3 ODST looks like fun, especially the Firefight-mode. I'd probably get it if it wasn't for the fact that I don't own a Xbox 360.

Ah, does the map reveal the locations of the recordings? Or do you have to do it by sight only?

Hmmm, nice job there, you come across as completely reasonable and likeable, but still manage to put a subtle jab against the series in there. Classy.

As far as ODST goes, it was a very good game but, as many people have already said, it was very short, far too short for a $60 game. I can't get too angry though, because firefight is complete win.

I haven't played it. I wanted to get it, but then all the stuff about the books and movies and crap just made me give up on it. I used to like Halo, but now I just don't understand how a pretty standard FPS can get so big.

I must say I do like the changes they have made to the campaign, it isnt an amazing story but it is still fun to play through. I also think that firefight is a great addition to the game, although one of the major let downs imo is the fact that there is no pvp for the ODST's, I would have liked to have seen this instead of just adding to the Halo 3 multiplayer.

Possible dlc maybe?
