somewhere the backstory of GLaDOS is a bit creepy.
-SPOILER-
it,s a bit like the "and I can,t scream" trope for hundreds of years GLaDOS has been experiencing her death countless times without any way out.
Also the idea that they put some persons BRAIN inside of a computer forcing her to live forever and ever (possibly past the end of humanity) with the only companion being Chell (who is mute for the entire games).
-SPOILER END-
She did mention seeing some humans. I mean, it is GLaDOS but a lie like that is so out of place.
It,s probably a lie,
she said she went outside which is impossible for GLaDOS (just look how HUGE she is!) she did to mess with Chell,s mind (to make her even more depressed) I think there are still humans outside Aperture though.
Actually, she just said she saw them. Security cameras?
I don,t think camera,s would survive 1000+ years of exposure to the element,s.
You DO know that in Portal 2 there are cameras all over the bloody place?
those are protected from stuff like snow, hail, rain etc.
There's maybe the chance GLaDOS has them produced and just placed up on the surface, in the same inexplicable way turrets are moved about?
it,s sort of explained that Turrets are deployed using the tube system.

A theme that I always find to be unsettling in any work of fiction is artificial intelligence outsmarting its human creators. And I'm not just talking about beating them at chess or even finding a way to blackmail them or kill them. When an AI begins to truly think beyond the scope of all human understanding, makes decisions based on that understanding, but doesn't clue us in on it. I tend to think of it along the lines of the things HAL9000 does in 2001.

GLaDOS definitely had a few moments like that in both Portal 1 and Portal 2, particularly at the end of Portal 2. Her last soliloquy was a relief but a little disturbing at the same time.

The tube system doesn't have that amount of finesse in it. Think of the complex patterns turrets have been placed in, and the Opera room. How they get to specific destinations is never explained.
