It's the best example that dumbing a game down isn't always a bad thing, excuse me, "streamlining."

I bought if for £15 and traded it in two days later. Found it too streamlined compared to Mass Effect, it just didn't capture me.

Loved it, especially the "Lair of the Shadow Broker" DLC; if they apply the same level of polish to the upcoming "Arrival" DLC and to Mass Effect 3, I will die a happy man.

Most of the haters of ME2 loved ME1, most of the haters of DA2 loved DA:O.

People don't like change. Granted some of the changes in both games were not for the better, but a fair few of them were, but some people want clones of their favourite games but with new stories.

That said I loved Mass Effect 2, although I disliked how the game treated the player like they were a moron, it amazes me how anybody could play the game without having everyone survive the suicide mission, unless they did it on purpose, and yet they make it sound like it would be hard to accomplish.

I thought it was just as good as the first, but in different ways.

ME 1 had fantastic RPG gameplay, an epic story and great characters, while ME 2 had a fantastic art style and graphics along with GREATLY improved combat, special abilities that don't completely break the flow of combat and a dark, intrigue driven story.

Here's hoping ME 3 is as good as we all hope it is!

Great game, bad RPG, in my opinion.
This. I though it was an awesome shooter with a great story. But it is funny how it pretends to be a RPG.
I know right, dump the annoying inventory system and it forfeits its RPGdom [/endsarcasm]

OT: Yes i thought it was a great RPG, maybe a tad simplified but still great

I liked it but I don't think it was anything that special and even though I never played the first one, it looks better than ME2.

It was good. However giving plot spoilers in trailers and interviews didn't help a great deal. Special mention to the people who posted spoilers in Bioware's ME2 forum.

I know some people got really pissy about the fact that ME2 had an Ammo system instead of the infinite ammo from ME1.

I love the mass effect series myself and can't wait for the third game.

It was alright. Although I was rather disappointed that they removed a number of features that I enjoyed from the first game including the vehicle sections. That's right, you heard (read) me, I actually enjoyed the vehicle sections! I also didn't really care for the implementation of the heat sync thing, mostly because it didn't make the slightest bit of sense from a storytelling perspective. However none of these things were exactly deal breakers for me.

Beated once and then tried to go for second time but stoped in the middle.
I better would like it if not for the 3 men team and repeated hide behind the cover shoot out.

No forfeiting any pretense of building a character, along with very little customization as far as weapons are cocerned does make less of an RPG. BioWare could have easily overhauled the bad inventory system from the first game and fixed it, instead they just took the easy way out with upgrades.

I absolutely loved Mass Effect 2. While the first game is great on it's own, the sequel pushes it above and beyond what can be done with such mechanics. The shooting is improved, the bullcrap has been cut out of the menu management, and the player's enjoyment is increased 110%.

I can not wait for Mass Effect 3, if Mass Effect 2 is any indication of where the series is going.

It's in my top 5 favorite games of all time.

I loved that they ripped out the inventory system because it was redundant. I love that the characters on the ship had more to say. I loved that the combat wasn't extremely dull.

The only thing I didn't like was that fucking planet scanning mini game, which can be completely avoided if you import a save.

Fantastic game, should've kept some semblance of an inventory system and maybe a few more skills, could just be me picking nits.

Main plot isn't that great compared to the first, felt like it was stalling for time by adding Collectors and Harbinger instead of figuring out ways to stop the Reapers. Still great game, nearly the best of 2010 (outshined by Bayonetta).
It did kinda feel like the plot was stalling. It isn't the first, so there is no true beginning, and it isn't the last, so no epic conclusion. However, it was one of the greatest midpoints I have ever seen, except for maybe "The Empire Strikes Back."

I agree with the weapons one, but the armor thing was done well in my opinion (It was kinda stupid to be COMMANDER Shepard and walking around in urban camo)

But honestly taking out an inventory/armor/weapon system doesnt get rid of its RPGness it just lessens it, you are still ROLEPLAYING commander shepard, making decisions and dialogue choices and it still has leveling up and a class system, thus it is still an RPG

Yeah that was a little meh, honestly i had to build a playthrough just to fail and lose people to make it seem realistic. It only becomes hard if you dont take time to gather resources or do loyalty missions

Played it almost as many times as all the Persona and Devil Survivor games put together.

Finished 4 times, to be precise. On Insanity currently, can't bring myself to play it right now. But hey, there's not time limit or anything ;d

So yeah, loved the game.
