Not as much as the original, but only because I lacked the same sense of wonder and amazement as when I first began exploring that world.

I only really had one problem with the game.

Unlike Sarren, Harbinger just wasn't as intersting a villian.

Plus, really fucking annoying...lol

I had a hell of a lot of fun with the game.

Yeah, at some places the story was a lot weaker than the first, I didn't really get the feeling that there was a major villain that actually mattered to the story until late in the game, and the RPG elements were toned W-A-Y down. But I still loved the game, because it was fun, which is what games should be in the first place, in my book.

Well, the second game lacked exploration, the RPG factors were stramlined way too much, Harbinger wasn't as complex as Saren, the story was much smaller in scope, I like the Normandy SR1 better, I missed the Mako...

But that didn't stop me from enjoying it. It was very well written. The only other franchise I love as much as this is Half Life.

too linear, the animations during the talking scenes were terrible and some of the characters were a little to whiny. other then that, everything else was awesome.

It has to be one of my favorites. The series is easily one of the most exciting around at the moment.

Can't wait 'till ME3!!

somewhat pointless skill trees in the first game.

What the hell are you talking about? The skills tress were amazing in ME1. For an example I was a sniper specialist aka Infiltrator and I think it was amazing how at first your sniper zoom would wobble all over the place and the more you would put points in snipping the better the targeting would get.

I really felt that Shepard was improving and he was progressing through the levels, how was that "pointless"? Please do explain!
Every point you invested in it was very incremental, and the changes were extremely hard to notice unless you dumped all your points into that tree. Pointless probably wasn't the right word for it, flawed is probably better.

BioWare had a chance to improve it in ME2, but instead they just ripped it out.

So Im reading a bunch of forums about how everyone hates Dragon Age 2 and couldnt help but notice how Mass Effect 2 was also getting some flak. I thought ME2 was a great game. It improved combat, had a nice story, interesting characters (Jack and Mordin especially) and didnt keep giving you random crap that you would just turn into omni gel later. And despite what people say, I actually liked how every character had his own unique costume instead of having to change it around with various generic body armors as you leveld up. Some more cosmetic customization would have been nice, but it certainly wasnt a deal breaker. The only thing that got to me was the box art for the standard edition.
Both Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 2 are great games, but they both suffer from similar flaws (though Dragon Age also had a handful more that I won't get into).

They both:
-Abandoned many of the RPG elements that helped define their predecessors
-Greatly simplified the leveling and party systems
-Drastically reduced the amount of playable space
-Had significantly worse stories than their predecessors

It's a perfectly valid comparison to make between them. ME2 is an excellent, but it was definitely a step backwards in a number of areas from the first game (though it made just as many steps forward).

Nothing about it was a deal breaker, but it certainly wasn't up to the standard set by the original ME.

I liked it a lot. I played ME2 first, then I tried ME1 and enjoyed both. Had it been the other way around I might have had a different view.

When I play ME2 now I can't help to think that they missed out on some potential. A smooth inventory system with items stacking and larger, non-linear non-combat areas could have done a lot for the RPG feel.

I have to say who ever did not like Mass Effect 2 should not be playing RPGs or Bioware games...

DAO < ME1 < DA2 < ME2

That's my version and I stand by it =)
In my humble opinion,

BG2 < ME1 < BG1 < JE < DA2 < DAO < ME2 < DA:O-A

[sub]And yet I still love ME2 and Awakening. Maybe I'm just a fanboy.[/sub]

I really liked ME2 they improved on the problems of the first and I felt like they avoided making too many new mistakes. A really solid game imo.

I absolutely liked it. My issues with it are those that are pretty universal though (no real inventory, too much probing).

I played through ME2 twice. First time, I played the default Shepard (didn't have access to my ME1 Shep) and really enjoyed the game. Second time, I used the Shepard from my optimal ME1 playthrough. The game was exponentially more enjoyable the second time around as it was cool to see the impact my choices from the first game had on the second. Mind you, none were significant so I'm hoping ME3 is affected much more by choices from the first two games.
