I would have liked a different ship design for the narada myself, to me it wasnt menacing, it just looked like a giant piece of space corral firing lazers.
When those "tentacles" first appeared out of the rift, I was hoping for Cthulhu to grace us with his coming. Instead 'twas just a pissed-off Romulan. Meh.

I absolutly loved the movie! I generally like Sci-fi and my dad is a fan of TOS though he didn't want to see it out of principal(What ever), I wansn't to sure about this alternate time line. But as soon as the battle started all my doubts dissapeared.
I even shed a tear when Kirk's father rammed the Narada.

But there were parts like the young Kirk driving or when Kirk and Spock entered that Outpost with Scotty in it(It's just the walls looked like a frikking mental ward/hospital!).
But other then that awsome pew pew with some inside jokes.

I didn't mind the camera, I enjoyed the shakey camera in BSG(It just felt new!)

I'd definatly make some music vids for Youtube once the DVD's out.

I know people are bothered by the plot and the inclusion of time travel and whatnot. But remember, this is a franchise that once had a movie about traveling back in time to save whales. I always found the old Star Trek to be a bit hokey, with some massive plot holes and ... interesting acting. But it was good anyway! Any complaints about the new movie can likely be made with anything else Star Trek related. I liked it.

I guess it's a competent enough movie - somewhat successfully keeping larger parts of the audience entertained by showing pretty starships and explosions - however, it fails so massively as a Star Trek movie, which it claims to be, it's just unacceptable.

What really pissed me off is that they have Nimoy doing the "These are the voyages---" speech, and yeah... it's not the voyages of the starship Enterprise, they don't explore strange new worlds and they don't boldly go where no man has gone before. It's just a pissed off Romulan and a fuckload of explosions. The end.

Edit: And the Romulans don't even look like Romulans. Did they really feel the need to dumb it down so much that no-one would go "gee, are those Vulcans...?" - there was a difference to begin with. (yeeeaaah... I think that's what pissed me off the most... the retarded-looking Romulans)

I boycotted it on principle.

No Shatner. No Trek.
If it would have had Shatner, I think a majority of people would have boycotted it on principle. Shatner is not the fucking franchise.
Well, obviously he's too old for the role now. Oh, and his character died.

Now, to be fair I don't have a huge problem about them doing a prequel as they have and recasting Spock, but no one else can play Kirk.

If that means they can't do the film, then that's fine by me.

Do a Deep Space Nine, or Voyager, or Maquis film... there's plenty of Trek universe to exploit.

What about an entirely Klingon movie, showing their perspective on the early war with the Federation - with subtitles?

I'd go to see that.
