I played it, but I was annoyed that I couldn't move faster than a snail which caused the AI guys to gun down most people before I could fire a shot off.

The first part though, with all the people standing there just looking at you for a couple seconds like "whats going on...?" before you open fire is my favorite part anyway. But the movement speed was VERY annoying.

I did enjoy shooting the people crawling away however, mwahahaha

Yes. I made a point to gun down every civilian.
same here. i was going to see what happened if you didn't kill anyone, but instead decided to just get stuck in. one of the grittier moments in gaming, but i can't see the point in skipping it.

Wow. Infinity Ward just totally guaranteed that I won't be buying this game. Seriously, we don't need stuff like this in our world. I don't care how they justify it in the story, this is just unnecessary.

Damn. Didn't really want to play the game until now. Also it's not that disturbing, I mean I've made Niko Bellic do much much worse.
The word for what you just described is desensitization. I'm amazed that this isn't that disturbing to you. Sure, gunning down hundreds of civilians in a highly realistic game. What could be disturbing about that?

It's GOOD that it was brutal and disturbing. Means that people are disgusted by the actions of terrorists.

And also: WHAT THE FUCK HAPPENED TO EVERYONE WHO LIKED TO RUN OVER PEDESTRIANS IN GTA!?

I played this, but I only shot one civilian who was at the fast food place and the people that were shooting me. When the elevator opened, I just shot in the air.

May I remind you that killing civilians is something that happens A LOT. Like in GTA or games like it. This just has to do with the setting in where the action takes place, and it shows that people who didn't care about pedestrians in GTA are hypocrites, because this is no different.

I haven't got the game yet. But I just watched it on Youtube (Thanks for the link.)

I must say I found the sequence deeply disturbing. The screaming, the blood, the airport's security being completely unprepared, the way the terrorists didn't even bat an eye. It was all frankly horrifing and will never make me want to do anything like that.

That being said, yes, I'll probably play the mission anyway.

What's so wrong with that? Human beings are hunters which equals killers. Our society has turned us (or tried) into a shell of what we are. I despise killing other humans but violence is our nature. You don't see wolves running around screaming "The horror!"

So what if I'm desensitized to a bunch of pixels that are falling to the pixels underneath them because another pixel sent some fast moving pixels through them. If this were a video of real people in a real airport being shot by real terrorists I wouldn't say what I said, I do have the ability to distinguish life from art, and I hope most people do.

The game is rated M for a reason anyway.

I haven't actually got the game yet, but I voted 'Yes' because I am going to play through the No Russian mission when I get the game, not so I can gun down all the innocent civilians in the level, just so as not to break the flow of the game as skipping an important scene like that for any reason just seems like a waste (I'll actually in all likeliness get physically sick playing through this mission, but whatever)...

Also kind of off-topic, is it weird that in games like GTA I tend to avoid killing civilians unless I'm spicifically supposed to?

The fact that they were running in terror, really struck a cord with me. I couldn't kill the civilians, but I did shot over the crowds and kill security.

The part I quoted is key. Maybe you don't have an issue with this, but you are kidding yourself if you think there aren't going to be young kids playing this. It goes beyond the blood or gore and killing of people. This is a simulation which encourages you to gun down innocent civilians. There is no reason for content like this, and there is no heroism or altruism in a players motives as there may be in other games. It's callous, irresponsible, and a poor way to entertain yourself.

Hmm, that's funny- I don't recall saying GTA is any more noble. Actually, I don't play that either.

I have a problem with killing people. Civilian or not. However I don't have a problem shooting 1's and 0's at other 1's and 0's. Only thing that bugged me about that scene is how slowly you walk.

Yes, I did. And it was fucking awesome. One of the best levels in a game for a while. It actually makes you feel bad. It's not really there for funsies, its there to show how interlaced agents can really get when working undercover. Why don't news presenters and newspaper columnists get that?
