I mean truly, this is a safe place, you can be honest here.

The amount of people I see online that seriously say it made them feel bad is astounding, and due to the nature of the internet I sometimes can't tell if they're joking, so what did you really feel.

Me, I tossed it in the furnace without a second thought, it's a non-sentient block with a heart on it. It's not going to care, same as I still don't.

Sorry, no love or tears here.

Honestly when I first played Portal, someone had already told me what happens during it so I didn't feel too upset by it. Every time I've played a Portal mod since though, I'm actually getting into the swing of thinking 'does this mod actually 'feel' like Portal, and so I always do have an exaggerated 'No!' at my desk when I realise the incinerator is coming up. But I never have nervous breakdowns.

Uhmmm... no. Not really. I mean, it was all pretty ridiculous - now wasn't it?

If they wanted some sort of heartbreaking effect, they should have left the cube with the player for longer, two/three levels at least.

I... I havent played through Portal...

It's been completely spoiled for me and I know see no point in playing it, so i never killed/destroyed the companion cube.

Nope, I didn't feel bad - I found the jokes made about the cube later on to be quite funny, though (in the game, mind you).

T.T No love for the companion cube?
Your heart is as cold as the metal your body is constructed from you...android you. Android Hell is a real place and I hope you know you are going there when you die!
No but seriously, I didn't really feel that bad about it, I wish they had made more than one level with it, made it like some kinda weird inanimate sidekick through half the game...that might have had more impact.

I'm with you mate. I really don't get why everyone seems so attached to the damn thing. I only found out people liked the Cube when the Hydra known as the Internet told me so.

It's not exactly the most plot ridden game, the 2-3 hours you'll play it are worth it. Have a go sometime :)

It makes me happy people are saying no with me, I can't fathom the love of this thing either.

I heard a lot about it, seen comics dedicated to it, etc., all before I played Portal. I was expecting something, anything.

Companion Cube is an ugly piece of poop that you have to lug around for one level. It has no lines, no character and only serves to make your life harder. It was on screen for all of ten minutes and I fail to see how anyone can form an emotional connection with a brick in ten minutes. Heck, it's worse than a Pet Rock...
This is basically my exact reason I told a friend, apparently I have a black hole where my heart should be according to her...

Heh, ten votes for 'no' and nothing for anyone else.
I liked Portal (except the companion cube (for a bit of on-topic bile (whee triple brackets))), once it was hyped, spoiled and overrated, it lost its lustre and I don't want it on my new Steam account (the old one was disabled for hacking, learn a fucking lesson from this guys - $200 USD isn't a nice thing to lose)

On the other hand, I do want Day of Defeat again.

No how can you get attached to something that just have a heart painted on the side, it's a box!

Someone voted yes and gives no reason -_- It'd be nice to see the reason if people could.

pretty sure the whole joke to the thing was that GLaDOS expected you to have formed a bond with it and was amazed when you just burnt it down.

On topic: no i felt nothing bad about burning it, other than me knowing that it would come in handy later but wasnt allowed to take it with me
