I loved it...... And I hated it.

The depressing environments, the claustrophobia, the stripping of items, the linearity, all of
these things sucked.

On the other hand, it had one of the most brilliant atmospheres I have seen in gaming. The depressing environments, the claustrophobia, the stripping of items, all of these things added on to a sense of dread. That maybe the apocalypse isn't so fun after all.

It was the only time in NV that I ever felt afraid. That maybe my character won't see this through.

Being forced to work with the others in order to survive and then either killing or helping them inside the casino. The old man disillusioned with the Brotherhood seeking out one last chance for glory...

Now, I may be a sucker for a depressing atmosphere, but I have to conclude by saying it was one of my favorite NV experiences to date.

Dead Money in my opinion was pretty good. I had hit the level cap, could blow through waves of anything really without a scratch. Stripped of your gear with resilient enemies and harmful traps at your doorstep every inch of that DLC had some challenge or attention. You needed to craft/trade/sneak just to survive, while in the main title they were merely options.
Sure the enemy variety was sub par, and the linearity was a little too much, but at least it was a risk, something different and a good change of pace.
Plus it gets automatic kudos for being the only DLC with the balls to permanently kill you.

Its no Old World Blues, but then again I enjoyed that more than the main campaign.

Want to talk about shitty Fallout:NV DLC? Honest Hearts, holy hell that was a waste of time and money, at least Dead Money kept me interested. When it came to a pivotal choice at the end I decided logically based on what would get my character out of there the fastest. As I expect he was having even less fun than I was. (But at least its not Mothership Zeta, yikes...)

I liked dead money quite a bit. Occasionally frustrating when a speaker or radio on a floor below or above would kill you, but I only remember one time you couldn't find a way to bypass or turn them off.

I'd imagine the hologuards gave people with <100 repair a hard time at some point, but it does plainly tell you not to go ther euntil you're over level 20, by the time they scaled up to requiring 100 I had levelled up to 23 and had it easy.

My least favorite was Honest Hearts. They built this huge map and put in all these locations and did, what, three story quests? Huge waste of potential.

I enjoyed it because I got a BAR, to be honest. I didn't find the Ghost People to be all that scary, because I was built to go into VATS and blow their heads off with that .357 magnum.

But damn, did I hate to leave Christine behind. You can tell her you'll find her once you take care of Elijah, but then the game doesn't let you. Yeah, I'm sure there's a mod to change that (I got F:NV on PC and 360, Steam sale) but I felt terrible after seeing that she stayed. I literally explored every part of the map, inside and outside the Sierra Madre, trying to find her before I finally gave up and left.

I absolutely adored Dead Money. I really liked them taking stuff off you and you had to start from scratch it made the place feel threatening. I was playing it on Very Hard.

Admittedly I was a stealth character with I think gives you a massive advantage in the DLC. However, I really enjoyed the storyline and the characters. Especially how you slowly find out how Dean is linked into the place. The whole place gives you this kind of ''haunted'' feeling.

I was really puzzled when I saw this thread as it's one of my favourite DLC's.

Oh, yeah, the other thing I hated was how repetitive the environments were in the Villa; it made it really frustrating to explore when it all looked basically the same.

I bloody well loved it. The story was great, a sad tale of greed and human nature. The characters were interesting. I liked how you couldn't take all the treasure out of there, building upon the need to let go. It was actually really hard to survive which was good to see. It is
1. Old World Blues
2. Dead Money
3. Lonesome Road
4. Honest Hearts
For me but I loved them all.
I totally agree abnout the ordering there, but I'd like to point out that you can infact sneak out with all the bars. Made me feel like a dick, ignoring the message of the DLC, but my character was such a do-gooder that I thought he deserved it.

It does seem that Dead Money has a bit of a Marmite factor about it though, as this thread isn't the only I've seen complaining about it

I wasn't a big fan of it, the story line and idea were interesting but the gameplay was lacking, I do love Old World Blues though, and Lonesome Road was fun, Honest Hearts wasn't bad, and the Gun Runner's Arsenal is fun for the challenges.

I hated Dead Money. Since I have the achievements for it I don't plan on ever going back to it. It felt really claustrophobic to me and, the atmosphere in general seemed like it was made more because Bethesda hadn't done a horror game in so long. I haven't actually tried out the other DLC packs yet...shortly after DM I was struck with a bit of the poor and am just now starting to recover from it. I'll probably get the ultimate New Vegas thing when that's out since it would be about the same price as buying all of the other DLC anyway (give or take about $5)

Steam had NV and all of its DLC on sale for 75% off during their Thanksgiving sale. Got the whole lot of it for $17 or so. Kind of a shame because I was basically buying a 2nd copy of NV (My original was for the PS3), but I figured the cost savings was well worth it and now I have an excuse to play through a 2nd with a fresh character. Plus mods :)

Because I am exceedingly lazy about completing story lines in the Fallout and Elder Scrolls games, I have yet to complete Dead Money. Even if I were to go and finish it now I still wouldn't be able to say whether I like the New Vegas DLC because I haven't bought and played the rest of the DLC yet.
