Not counting the games, Digimon wins on Tamers alone. Renamon was the shit. Too bad the internet ruined Renamon forever with a mountain of rule 34.

Just based on the shows Digimon definitely wins because unlike Pokemon, they actually changed things up season to season rather than just doing the same thing in a different region like Pokemon did.

Of course the original Kanto journey is a super blast of nostalgia for me and I can watch that shit any day, but collectively the Digimon anime is vastly superior. And as was said, it would win just based on Tamers alone, it was that fucking amazing.

Yeah, Tamers is my favourite too. I don't understand why so many people don't like it though. Once you get over the fact that it's set in a different universe to the previous 2 (I'll admit, it took me a while to get over it) you see how good it is

All I can say is with pokemon, by the time I stopped watching it (after about 5 years) Ash was still the same (irritating) character as he was from the very beginning (aside from a voice change. With Digimon, every character had some form of character development or personal growth that made the story better/interesting (in my opinion). Digimon always seemed more mature compared to pokemon. I could go on, but that's enought for now =).

id definitely go with Digimon series and movies wise though a lot of pokemon's older stuff was pretty awesome and some of the movie still seem pretty cool. I think they a lot of better choices with Digimon like having a wider range of creatures rather than just animals and so they've been able to create some pretty awesome creations and switching up the main characters every series or so and I think the plots are usually more epic. also Digimon never got us to believe that a society that was full of camp evil corporations and potentially dangerous animals let ten year old run around unsupervised with objective to fit as many Pokemon as they can in a variety of small colourful balls until your master or until you actually age not just stay the same with a different change of clothes every so often. so Digimon hands down but pokemon will always have a special place in my heart.

well there's my mini rant. unrelated going by the games shouldn't pikachu be level 100 by now and so be able to kill everything in its path while villagers run screaming for cover from the great yellow mouse king.

I vote digimon, because it was more epic. And because the pokemon shows and movies constantly scream F you to the games. Every other line in a pokemon battle and it's "Types don't matter! It's how you battle hurrr" And then one of the characters blows up a wall that falls on the gym leaders pokemon and they win. You'd think they'd have gotten arrested, or at least kicked out of the gym for being d-bags.

I loved the Pokemon show when I was younger, but watching them now... ugh. It's pretty clear that after (and at times during) the first season, their opinion of their watchers dropped like a stone. It got a little better, I discovered, during the whole Diamond/Pearl thing, in which the gym leader fights became whole episodes worth of material, where strategy and reading your opponent actually mattered more than in the games. As soon as that insufferable little hat-wearing twerp gets back out though, it's back to getting lost constantly and not catching any Pokemon let alone do something worthwhile. I don't hate Ash, really, it's just... do something productive sometime, will you, kid?

My retrospective return to Digimon? Whoa man, that show was DARK. Not blood and guts dark, but the kind of dark kids would understand... feeling misunderstood, getting into fights, losing friends and feeling like everything depended on you whether you were ready for it or not. The... ugh, I have to say it... "Digidestined" were just kids, thrust into a situation where they and their counterpart creatures are in constant danger. They get beat up, they had to watch friends die, they had to hoof it across an entire continent, and they had to face incarnations of evil itself, whether it be obsessive evil, mindless destructive evil, selfish acquisition evil, desperate evil or just sadistic, calculated evil... those kids had to face it and survive.

Summary: Pokemon Season 1 and select episodes are okay. Digimon Seasons 1, 2 and the movie were fantastic and still stand among the great anime series totally on their own.

From games point of view, I haven't played a single decent Digimon game yet.
have you played digimon world dusk(or dawn) on the DS?
Nope, in fact, the only games I've played are Digimon World 1 & 2 in the PS1, since then, I tried to avoid Digimon games as much as the bubonic plague.

Hmm...I was going to say one for the movies and one for the series, but then I remembered how good the Digimon movie was and how good the series was, so i'm going with Digimon.
Overall thought, the pokemon games trumps all.

You're telling me. What has been seen cannot be unseen. It sickens me.

I agree with Midnight Crossroads. I've only ever seen Tamers, and if the rest of the series is anything like that is, than that wins in my book. I've actually started watching the series again, so I may enjoy it from a fresh perspective.

Compared to Pokemon, when talking about the anime and movies alone, Digimon wins completely.

Digimon, purely because of the two Hosoda directed films, which are actually pretty good even if you don't care about Digimon at all.

Digimon

I've watched a number of seasons in both series (Adventure, Frontier, and Savers for Digimon, and Season 1, Battle Frontier, and Diamond/Pearl for Pokemon), and in terms of general entertainment value, characters, and dialogue, Digimon wins.

Digimon. Firstly, the dub didn't suck[/i]. Adventure 01/02, Tamers and Frontier all had great voice acting--the voices fit the characters, none of them were those generic "anime voices" (I'm sure you know what I mean) and their lines were delivered believably. However, Data Squad/Savers sort of fell into the nasty tropes of English dubs, from what I saw. I will check out Xros Wars when it gets dubbed, though even the Japanese pilot didn't pique my interest.

Secondly, Digimon is more original than Pokémon. The latter is highly derivative of its source material, whereas the former has a lot more space to work with, having no set boundaries beyond the Digital World concept. With each new Digimon series, we're treated to entirely new casts (save for Adventure 02, unless you count the older versions of Adventure 01 characters as new), but Pokémon has been following the same Trainer for about 14 years now. For chrissakes, Pikachu's gotta be about level 100 by now.

Thirdly, Digimon is more mature and has more depth to the story. Characters have pasts, convictions, flaws and weaknesses that actually help flesh the plot out. They're clearly influenced by events and other characters. The plots in Digimon take more serious tones than getting the next Gym Badge or making Team Rocket blast off again. Granted, Pokémon films are more serious, especially the first, but that's not quite often enough.

The DigiMovies are also better than the PokéFilms. You can't watch Our War Game and not go "Holy shit."

Lastly... Pokémon just got fucking old, guys.

I prefer Digimon. Season 1 and 3 were great. The second half of season three is screwed up. Although that Pokemon movie with the unknown was neat.
