I was practically raised on Pokemon after being a toddler, so that. Hell, it was my introduction to anime, and anyone who vaguely knows me or even glances at my avatar would sure as hell know that's significant.

As for Digimon, I thought it was a Pokemon ripoff when I was into Pokemon, but from what I know now it was probably more than that.

Digimon had a better plotline than Pokemon, but Pokemon had the better games.

Pokemon. It had the games and I found ending every creatures name with "mon" very, excruciatingly annoying.

I like the battle concept in pokemon. It's like dogfighting, except some of them could electrocute their own balls instead of needing a trainer to do it.

Admittedly the only Digimon I've seen is Digimon Tamers (season 3), but it immediately rose to one of my favorite anime shows. Apparently it's completely disconnected from the rest of Digimon, so I can't speak for the rest of the series, but Tamers was amazing.

I'd like to see Pokemon top this badass character. He shoots missiles out of his chest!

Almost forgot this dude.

7. I find it amusing that all these girls in pokemon are falling for Ash and he doesn't even notice. If it was me, I'd at least try something.
Isn't Ash just ten years old?
Maybe that's why.
His balls dropped over the last 6 years or so. He is at least 16. He can't be ten after all these years.
Well, the simpsons haven't aged, but pokemon stories actually connect.

Digimon rocked, but its plot was hard ass hell to fallow

It had cooler monsters than pokemon, but in the end

Doesn't stand up to

In terms of the shows themselves Digimon had a much more engaging story.

In respect to the games its Pokemon hands down.

I think the Pokemon games (older versions are all I've played) are awesome, but Digimon was the best show in my opinion. I just liked that it tried to be a bit more serious and the characters were all pretty likable; you could relate to them and their situations much more than in Pokemon, which i did not find as immersive.

Izzy was my favorite character <3

Digimon's biggest failure was their naming system.

Had they not ended everything with -mon I would have been infatuated by the show and games.

But in the end they did do that, and so I found myself rather enjoying Pickahu instead of Pikachumon.

Also much to Pokemons credit they actually follow a science (ish) system of environment to monsters. People ***** about there being new pokemon but forget that we end up on new continents nearly every time.

Pokemon that can survive in the other climates end up being in those climates but pokemon that have adapted only to the environment they currently reside are only found there. It is inspiring to see them trying to slip a little bit of thought provoking fun in between the fireblasts and horn drills. :)

I always preferred digimon simply because unlike the battles in Pokemon which are akin to publicly approved dog fights where one Pokemon is left in an unconscious pile and forced back into a tiny pokeball, Digimon are just data gone awry. If one dies, nobody will care. Well maybe a little, but it would be similar to someone breaking your copy of Halo 3. You would grieve for a few minutes then buy another one.

Also, who would win:

OR

I do recall from watching the show some ten years ago that The digimon (metalgreymon) in the picture is the size of a large house and shoots missiles from various parts of his body while charizard is only around 2-3 meters high and shoots fire. pfft

EDIT: I'd also like to add that the plot to Pokemon was a giant montage of every single character being the voice of reason and preaching to save the whales from extinction by encouraging dogfights in countries that didn't know the thrill of making wild animals fight to the death.

I was never a real fan of Digimon because of the idiotic tamers. I mean crist, about 75% (on a good day) of a Digimons power was directly related to the tamers emotions... it makes NO SENSE. At least when some battle went sour on Pokemon, they would work on the problem and try again, where as with Digimon, you would just get fetch-quest-leading-to-upgrade episodes. Or a "spiritual journey" episode if there wasn't a magical item available....

On a side note, Firefox has a dictionary entry for Pokemon and not for Digimon, so what does that say?

I always found Digimon to be like a cheap version of pokemon.
If pokemon were Heinz baked beans, then digimon were the dodgy, watery 1p a tin beans.
Glad to see I'm not the only one that felt that Digimon was an INCREDIBLY cheap rip off of Pokemon.
