Now when I say that, I don't mean on a phone or IMS, I mean in forums and emails (like this one)

Examples being:

"no i dunt tink that cod6 is bad, fuk u"

etc.

Yes, it bothers me. I don't want to have to decode their messages.
They mainly make it worse for themselves though. No one takes a person who can't take an extra half second to type at instead of @ seriously.

Yes, it annoys the hell out of me, what's wrong with normal spelling? I can understand in a videogame when you need to type really quickly, but on a forum, there's no excuse.

It's annoying and dumb, and i can't take the person who writes like this seriously by default.

The only thing worse is people saying "LOL" in real life. Sometimes even without laughing. Makes me feel all face-punchy

Yeah I hate it. Even in text I don't like the short hand spelling. I prefer the proper English. I'm such a grammar Nazi.

actually there are some acronyms i don't mind like LOL or ROFL. I need those for the forums

Didn't we have this same thread yesterday? I will, however, reiterate my point of view. "Txt spk" is a blight upon communication. It is a vile insult to language and use of it should be punishable by being forced to proofread bad fanfiction for a week. I do not believe it is acceptable even in text messaging, let alone forums or email.

Yes. Yes, it does.

I don't ask for perfect spelling and grammar, it would be downright hypocritical of me to do so, but if you can't be bothered communicating in a coherent manner, I can't be bothered paying any attention.

I was unaware of any such thread. I apologize. I do believe I put this in the wrong thread as well (I meant to put it in Off-Topic)

<.< I actually type the whole word when texting I despise this so much. Though I do actually say lulz in real life, I don't say lol, but mostly because of being around trolls to much sometimes I do it for the lulz and all.

Not the face, not the face! (I'm trying to stop, I really am! D=)

OT: Yes it bothers me, but I don't read them any more. When I've taken the time to decipher them they've been full of ignorance anyway, so why bother with them?

Still, I feel my rage rising when I see them...

I understand that in some situations, it is required: such as when you are getting your ass handed too you in a game, and you are not intelligent enough too buy another headset (I think I proved my point; plus you would have to be able to translate the text). Besides in tight situations; learn to fucking type you tards.

I wonder if they have trouble reading normal typing? They probably refer to it as "Idunund" (I don't understand).

This message has been brought to you by, People. Isn't literacy, education, and an IQ grand? Ok i'm done insulting.

No need to apologise to me, good sir! I relish another opportunity to espouse my contempt for garbled attempts at communication. Language is a beautiful construct, and I will never fail to decry such abominations as... "txt spk".

I don't mind it, if its in a text.

Outside of the text, it MUST BE EXTERMINATED.

It's not that difficult to use real words, people accidentally mis-spelling things never bothers me but when people do that sort of thing intentionally it just baffles me.

Sometimes it does, and I can understand where "textese" came from, but now with practically all major cell phone plans having unlimited text people can easily write out everything they want to say. But we've grown accustomed to using "textese" so that's why you'll see various messages that look like it just went through a vowel shredder.

For me, it varies on how annoyed I get. If it's like one or two messages, I'm fine with it. But if the sender constantly uses it then I get annoyed.

How the fuck am I supposed to write that?

Yes, mostly because most modern cellphones have an auto-correct function that makes texting in a grammatically correct fashion not much of a hassle. It's just plain stupid to text like that.

You turn your keyboard upside-down, of course. How else did you think you were supposed to type it?

Even on my older phones that didnt have a fully keyboard I would write out full words, and I would omit words if I was in a hurry and it made sense. It's really not that hard to do it fast if you know what you are doing. And if you are going to take the time to say something, say it legibly for fucks sake.

And in games... I can't even think of a multiplayer console game that has a chat text option, and it's more work and takes longer to figure out how to shorten words to type in a PC game than it took me to type out this post.
