It's annoying and dumb, and i can't take the person who writes like this seriously by default.
The only thing worse is people saying "LOL" in real life. Sometimes even without laughing. Makes me feel all face-punchy
I remember very clearly a once perfect day in a computer store, Fry's Electronics, if you know the place... that started to form spidercracks along the surface when I heard a pre-teen (No, I'm not going to call them tweens. That's degrading, retarded, and there's already a word for 10-12 year olds... pre-teens.) in a miniskirt with her horrible squeeky voice using those (the other ones as well) to her mother. And then to her friends. And not just, for example, saying "Lol" or "Rofl" as a word, saying "L-O-L", "R-O-F-L", "O-M-G", et all.
Come to think of it, I can't remember if people saying "Omg" or "O-M-G" infuriates me more.
Internet slang infuriates me most on any kind of proper writing. Forms, stories, job applications, and to a degree, forums and e-mail.... Written English- You don't have to be the next Shakespeare, Dickens, or Twain, but please, don't be Jackson Pollock with a pen.
And actually, OPs example didn't infuriate me. It reminded me of my friend's horrible spelling when using IM. He has horrible spelling all the time, but that's just when it's noticeable.
