Wouldn't that kinda ruin the innocence of the game?

'aawww, they are little mute elves!! How cute!'

Sure, BUT NEVER LINK.

Or if there is a fairy again, not the fairy either.

Full blown voice acting? In MY Zelda?

No thanks. I'm sure that Nintendo would agree. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9mHw5g55oC4]

Do these games still really need to exist? How many times can you play the same game with remixed levels and items?
As long as it still remains top notch, which it has.

I guess Id give it a chance. As long as Link doesnt talk. If he utters more than "Ayaaaah!" "Haay!" "Heeeaaaa!" then Im not playing it. :D

You know the V/A wasn't that bad for its time. I gotta ask what is up with the hand gestures though? They make it over the top.

I wouldn't trust Nintendo (or most Japanese game companies, really) with producing good localized voice acting (reference: nearly all JRPG's and animes).

If, however, they want to mix up setting or characters so the games don't feel so formulaic, then I'd encourage them to do so, and if voice acting is for some bizarre reason a part of that, I'd just be happy that they're trying something new.
Well, they didn't mess up too bad with the Voice Actors in Metroid Prime 3, but they should probably leave well enough alone. Unless they got Jennifer Hale for Zelda. And maybe Raphael Sbarge for Ganon. That would be awesome.

I think it feels very clastraphobic when your playing a game that lasts about 30 hours and no one talks and you hear basically the same music over and over

Id like it if not main character spoke but link should stay a mute

Link wasn't made to have a voice he was made to save zelda. by giving him a voice you would ruin the character.

I live in fear of poor English voice acting so, no. It would be cool if Link could form complete sentences and thoughts though. "I don't feel like saving Zelda right now. If you need me for something else I am going to go sack this village."
Link walks up to Ganon: Alright, look, my life F***ING SUCKS! I mean Shesh, I'm pulled from my home, and forced to fight Giant monsters. One of them was a f***ing spider. I hate spiders! So please, I beg you, kill me. If you have any mercy left in you're heart you would kill me now.

Ganon: No.

Link: Screw you!

Battle begins or Link jumps off of Ganon's Tower.
Why wouldn't Ganon kill Link and guaranty his victory?
Because he's evil that way.

I don't think so. We have little snippets of voice for emotional outbursts, and that does me well enough.

I was going to say no, but I gotta say yes, Everyone except Link, it would be funny having people talk to him and him not responding vocally.

Yeah, they would be like "Hellooo, I'm talking to you. Why don't you answer me!!?"

I say no, I've gotten a lot more emotions and understanding from Link's facial expressions than most speaking games, also when I try to imagine a voice for Link, Vic Mignogna comes up, which is really awkward...

I like to imagine my own voices for the characters. Is that so strange?

...really? Damn.
Nah it's really not. Well if it is then I'm weird too...oh wait...

Well it's fun to do if you're coaching a friend; I was walking a pal of mine through OOT and I was reading all of the Kaepora's (the Owl) lines in a stupid Homestar voice which made it rather entertaining. The little vocal clips they already have of reaction noises and whatnot like WW and TP are fine. Maybe if they changed up the story and items a bit they'd make thing more interestigrumble.....-.-

EDIT: does anyone else have the suspicion that Link is slightly telepathic? You can choose options during conversation but there's no sound or much movement to show Link's response, is he projecting his thoughts into the minds of other characters? O,o

It would be nice but only on 2 conditions.

1, the voice acting has to be good...I'm not asking for oscar winning stuff but each voice should suit the character

2, Link must stay silent, some characters can say more with the look in their eyes than others can with a mountain of dialogue, Link is one of those characters.

I suppose what i really want is what they did with Dragon Quest 8, where the main character stayed mute, you could name your character whatever you wanted and the rest of the cast would use a nickname while refering to you...why do I get the feeling Link would get Grasshopper?
