That was a quote from Rebecca Black's comments in her new YouTube video "Friday." Similar things are said everyday about Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana and Justin Bieber. Now don't get me wrong, I'm all for having a hateful opinion, but is it really appropriate or necessary to be saying things like this to a THIRTEEN year old girl? These are children...children that probably aren't producing. They are only performing. What kind of person says such horrid things to a child?

What do you guys think about this sort of thing?

These are trolls on youtube. They aren't looking for your respect when they comment.

I think it's kind of patronizing to call someone over 18 a "child". They're young adults, but definitely adults.

There's a difference between saying something to someone and posting something on a company maintained website.

I don't really think that sort of comment is appropriate for anyone unless they've done something to really warrant it.
Singing a shit song isn't worth getting so worked up over and the people who say that sort of thing just need to find something else to do.
Sure, I may have a harsh opinion on lots of things (including that stupid video) but that's just unnecessarily hateful to someone simply singing a crap song. Hell, she didn't even write it herself, she's merely singing.

Really though, it's just a troll. Youtube is full of them and that really should be expected at this point.

Some, yes I would agree. But there are entire websites and Facebook groups that dedicate themselves to "I Hate (whoever)."

What is that?

No, that's really pretty inappropriate. Friday may be some of the most inane drivel that's ever been put in lyrical form, but in all fairness, it's BY A THIRTEEN YEAR OLD GIRL! Should we really expect incredible depth from a thirteen year old girl? Probably not, she doesn't have to be deep, she's just a kid, granted, a rich kid whose parent's can afford to pay a company to make a music video for her and her ridiculously inane song, but a kid nonetheless. If you really need to direct hate towards someone, why not the company that made the video? Or her parents for paying for it? She's just a stupid kid. Which one of us wasn't a stupid kid at some point? Hell, even if it is one of the worst songs of all time, is that really such a big deal? Some song has to be the worst of all time, and it's not worth hating her for. That's what's never made sense to me, yes, it's a stupid song, and it's fair to hate the song, but the kid who made it? Can you really blame her? I think not. And certainly she's done nothing so horrible as to deserve death, that is a punishment reserved for those who do genuinely terrible thing, at worst, she's been involved in one mildly annoying thing, and since she's a kid, I don't feel that she can even be considered the responsible party.

Anonymity breads stupidity. I believe most of them don't actually want that to happen to a person, but since it's on the internet it's easy to depersonalize, and that kinda stuff is just part of the internet.

It wasn't meant to be insulting...but you can't drink, you can't rent a car...
Wait until you're 60.
18 will be a child.
Not the point though...

Still, what kind of person even thinks to tell a young woman to kill herself because she sang a bad song?

I'm gonna say no, at any age. Also, I don't think they're children after 18.

Lastly, don't use this as trash talk in video games either, it's quite inappropriate.

That's exactly what I wonder! Why hate her with such ferocity? It's so misguided. She didn't even write the song. Her producers did.
Who can justify "[wanting] to stick my cock down her throat so she can shut the f*ck up."

It's just stupid and immature. Telling people to slit their wrists is a stupid roundabout way for wishing someone harm too. There's no balls to it.

No free passes due to age.

Besides, everybody reassess their cut offs for Young, Idiot, and Young Idiot every 10 years. It's a process that never ends. You hit 25 and look back and think back .. good god, I was *dumb as hell* when I was 15. When you're 35 you looks back to when you were in your 20s and the process repeats itself, and so on ad infinitum.

I'd be willing to bet that most adults don't care or have better things to do than post semi-quasi-pseudo-threatening messages about dead memes and teen idols.

So, I conclude that this is done primarily by people of the same age group as Rebecca Black and the others.

This.
Thank you for recognizing that maturity itself matures.
You win a reassured smile.

I don't actually really get the Justin Bieber hate, I mean I dislike him to the point that I simply don't listen to his music... but that's pretty basic, did he start bangi- okay, gonna cut that short so as not to risk being put on probation, anyways.

Honestly, it seems like chances are most of the children haters probably ARE children. I lol'd at the 18+ children, how accurate.

I wouldn't respect anyone who says that - regardless of the age of the person they are yelling it too.

But they're just youtube trolls. I doubt they really believe it, they are just being obnoxious for the sake of it.

I don't "respect" them, but I don't demonise them either.

The internet is the internet. If you take stuff seriously, you shouldn't be there.
