No, they don't directly cause violence, but they can contribute to it. But the same can be said with Movies, Books, and the works. The reason people get their panties in a twist over violent video games is because, although more and ore are starting to jump into the hobby, they are still viewed as mere toys meant to amuse children. movies, Books, and the works have this all the time, but they are never questioned for it. in fact, they are praised!

But don't worry. With time, Video games will get the respect they so rightfully deserve. (9 Ya wanna know what's funny, I have to a report on this too!)

Maybe it can "inspire" how one does something violently, but there would have to be something up with the person beating someones skull in.

It all depends on the person. The first game I ever played was Mortal Kombat 2...when I was 4. I have yet to impale a guy in the chest with spear. And on a more realistic note I have yet to actually get into a fist fight. Or any physical confrontation really. And I played games regularly from ages 4 to 16. So yeah.
