I don't rely completely on Yahtzee's reviews, but generally I can tell which of his points are salient and which are nitpicky, and only listen to the points that seem to be things I would care about if I were playing it myself. Obviously, almost anyone would like a game more than it seems like he would, as the ratio of good to bad is way off on almost every review (I mean, if I only bought games he reviewed as good, I'd not have purchased any games since '08). So yes, though he may be biased, I still can take quite a lot from his reviews... plus they're just so entertaining.

I tend to generally agree with what he has to say. Not insofar as JRPGs are concerned, because I quite like them regardless, but he does present some valid points in between the creative swearing. I did buy Scribblenauts despite what he said about it... and pretty much lived to regret it. I traded it the following day. So I do hold stock with most of what he says... just not all of it.

There should be a choice that says, "No, because my opinions never match those of others 100% of the time." Yathzee is a critic. He is ONE critic. If you listened blindly to every critic ever born you would have nothing and at the same time everything. Spooky.

I have a bad habit of being hypocritical about his reviews. Whenever a friend and I are arguing about games, I'll often drop a Yahtzee quote to try and prove my point, but if it's a game I want, I dismiss his critiques as entertainment and not take them too seriously.

I think his reviews are funny but I don't agree point for point with him (although I basically said the opposite in a similar thread a month ago.) I usually trust my friends decisions over his.

He's funny, but he's like an entertainment news show. You don't watch to actually learn the news, you watch it for comedic enjoyment. Therefore I don't watch him to make opinions, but to see a hilariously pessimistic view of the game being reviewed.

Somewhat. For example, I bought Saints Row 2 on his recomendation and loved it. I have enjoyed numerous other games he cut down though so on the whole I watch him more for entertainment than as a way to pick new games to try.

No. While he can have valued opinions from time to time i never make buying decisions based on his reviews alone. I think people who agree with him on ever review he's ever done are some sad and depressing folks.

of course not. he is a comedic reviewer. he is there to talk about the BAD parts of games and make you laugh.

Why all the MW2 and Yahtzee threads guys...plus this one doesn't even have good poll options
It's a yes or no question. It's a binary option with one joke answer for people who don't feel like giving a "real" answer. How is that not good enough? Me thinks you may be looking for too much here Friendo.

Yahtzee doesn't do reviews. He does criticisms. By his own admission. He is proud not to be a reviewer.

But yes, he does inform my buying decisions to a certain extent, in a general sort of way, but he's obviously not my only influence. I respect his opinions because he's a clever guy and they've tended to coincide with my own opinions in the past. There is no reviewer whose opinions I value more than his; I use a wide variety of sources to determine what to buy, or sometimes I just go by the box art.

This poll is a joke; it purposefully encumbers the "yes" option with a ludicrous statement that noone in their right mind would ever agree with, and the statement attached to the "no" option is a universal truism that everyone in their right mind would have to agree with even if they would not vote "no". It's predetermined to favour the opinion of the OP, who fails at polling.
Dude, it's yes or no. The rest is just me thinking that I have a sense of humor. Furthermore, at this point, 108 people felt fine answering "yes". Are all of these people not in their right minds? You're being too critical.

This poll is bias and pathetic. There is no middle ground whatsoever. It's either one extreme or another.
Dude, even if it informs your decision a little the answer is still yes. It's not based on degrees, it's just a yes or no question.
