while his reviews are often as much comedy as they are actual critics
i often find that i agree much more with his EXTRA punctuation articles then i do with his reviews
I was going to say just this.

For my entertainment I'll watch ZP for an actual opinion that I can sit down and say "he's totally right on that one" I'll read EP, because when making ZP we expect him to be funny, and as he's said in the past "noone likes it when I'm being nice to a game".

Just wanted to know what the Escapist community thinks about "Yahtzee's" reviews.
And I agree with him about 50% of the time.

I'd say about equal with every other reviewer. At the end of the day a review is still just someone's opinion, most of the time just with a score/pro's and con's tacked onto the end and at least Yahtzee's reviews are funny.

Although the only advice of Yahtzee's I really took was Saint's Row 2. Which I'm glad I did because I had a blast with it.

I usually agree with him, except that I beleive the Wii can be used for good - just nobody at Nintendo has thought of it in between swimming in their money and swimming in their other money.

I think his videos are hilarious, and agree with him on some points. But in a few of his videos he blows the problems out of proportion, and tries to make too big of point on a problem.

He's one of those critics that just loves to destroy games from the inside out. It's hard to tell if he likes a game or not, well usually you can tell if he hates it, but his job is to make the game look bad. He's a decent reviewer and a great entertainer. I don't always agree with him, but there are times where I'm thinking the same thing he is when I'm done playing the game he just reviewed.

like for instance... the AI of enemies being so dumb they probably live in a cave, in some games.

I rarely agree ('bout 25%) but he always has a good point. And I actually bought Saints Row 2 because of that review.

He has his opinions, and I have mine.

I like the fact that he openly admits to reviewing these games subjectively, and it's not like his critics are off.

That's something a lot of reviews won't admit to even though they're obviously bias or showing favoritism towards some games. I rather watch a Yahtzee than 90% of so called reviewers out there.

He just won't praise a game because ever since AVGN, ripping into stuff has been found more entertaining.

I regretably agreed with his Borderlands review, despite the fact I love that game. But I never really take his reviews as God's words.

I just think it's funny nothing more nothing less. I watch it just like I watch any funny thing on the net. No need to take it serious, I give him + on his key points on a lot of the flaws on a couple of games but, in the end I just watch his reviews for the comedic value really.

I find most of his points about games are reasonably accurate, but really, I mainly watch his videos for entertainment.

I take all reviews with a grain of salts, but Yathzee's I take with a whole salt shaker. The whole point is to find all the game's flaw and wail on them... it is quite funny, but it's just not very fair.

I saw Yathzee's review of Fable 2, tho it was funny, and it affected my decision to buy it... a friend eventually lended me Fable 2 and I figured I'd try it and while it's certainly not a masterpiece and it has many flaw, I still had a lot of fun with it. That's just one example (I also liked Darksiders, which he really hammered).

Ultimately, if you use his review as an actual 'buyer's guide' - you'll never buy any game.

I love watching his reviews, i cant wait for them to come out each week. though i suppose, sadly to say,i do sometimes base whether i buy a game off of how his review goes. though hes usually right :D

I went with 75%.

I don't always agree with his overall judgement of something, but even in cases where I enjoy a game that he doesn't he almost always makes some very good points. I doubt I'd ever use a NP review as my sole basis for buying/not buying something, but they do make good humour filled supplements to regular reviews.

They're not reviews, they're 'critiques'. He said this ages ago, listen to the maestro of mocking!
