Absolutely. With more than 99% of the universe still completely uncharted, I think it's incredibly selfish to believe that what we have on Earth is the only life that exists.

Yes, absolutely. Intelligent alien life - maybe. Will we ever meet them... No :(
I'd go with yes, maybe, and then probably not, and especially within our lifetimes.

As many people have already said, the chance that there is no alien life at all is incredibly small. However, the chance that we will ever meet them is similarly small. As for aliens visiting our planet, I seriously doubt it, especially since the 'flying saucer' is possibly the worst design for any vessel ever. Every single human vehicle is designed to minimize air resistance. Flying saucers are just about the least streamlined thing imaginable. You'd think a species that had mastered intergalactic travel would realise that.

Yes. The chances of us being living on the only planet to have ever been habitable is so small its unreal.

So high is the probability that "belief" is probably not even the right word.

Yes, ofcourse. I doubt we have made contact however.

On a side note: It annoys me how scientists say, "Ohh, yes, to have life on it, a planet must have oxygen, nitrogen, carbon dioxide and water, because that is what all life needs to survive."
I think its more, "we know this is what works, lets look for planets with these features", than anything else.

Take a look at the universe and the countless worlds out there. It's a statistical certainty that at least one other world out there has evolved some form of life.

To be honest, I'm not hoping we discover intelligent life, I'm actually far more excited about the bacteria as they're far more probable and they'll give us a massive leap forward in knowledge towards understanding the origins of life.

No. I think that there is a very high possibility that life exists elsewhere, but believing in something in the absence of evidence is not a good thing to do.

The belief in extraterrestrial life is just that, a belief. Unless there is confirmation, I would have to say no.
With what we know of the universe, the size of it and the amount of...crap in it there's actually a much higher likelihood of alien life existing somewhere else than not.

Now actually ever meeting or seeing any of this alien life is probably never going to happen.

There is evidence though. Statistical evidence. And surely there's nothing wrong with believing in the likelihood of something with what we currently know of the universe.

Considering how vast space is life out there is pretty much a statistical certainty. I believe there are other cultures on other worlds. However the chances of them ever visiting earth is highly unlikely.

Depends what kind of 'alien' you mean.
Biological life-forms on another planet? Almost undoubtedly - the sheer number of planets alone nearly guarantees it.
Small bug-eyed boogie men abducting innocent civilians as the backwoods of Kentucky?
Not so much.

The odds of there not being a single planet out of the entire universe with even one cell of bacteria are, well, astronomical.

I think, considering all elements, the chance of extra terrestrials not existing is MUCH smaller than the chance they do exist.

I agree to the probably does exist, but the distances in space that make it so likely that there is other life somewhere, also make it exceedingly likely we would ever encounter aliens.

The universe is basically infinite, and I doubt that we're the only intelligent life within it. However, I doubt they're much different from us, if different at all. I doubt that we'll ever meet them though, and if we did, it would probably only lead to war.

Do I believe in aliens? Sure. It's a pretty fucking big universe out there, and the odds are getting higher and higher that life exists closer to us than we initially thought.

Do I think they're zooming us in their flying saucers, mutilating cows and kidnapping hillbillies, though? No.

While I'm open to the idea of intelligent life existing out there, I do not 'believe' whole-heartedly in their existence, until I see evidence for their existence.

Pretty self-explanatory, do you think that aliens (non-human/non earthlings) exist? if so what do you think they will be like? and do you think that we will discover them or they discover us?

Personally...I'm not really sure. I never used to but recently after playing through Mass Effect I want to believe in them haha.
no i don't believe in aliens for the same reason i don't BELIEVE in my dog.

Yes, on a lot of different levels.

For one thing, obviously I believe in the little aliens. Not intelligent life, but life nonetheless. We've seen it. We know for a fact that it exists. There's no doubting it.

I also believe in intelligent life on other planets.. Consider the universe. It's pretty big. Saying that we are the only intelligent life in all of the universe is just silly. Just because we haven't encountered it (and probably won't for a very long time) doesn't mean it can't exist, especially when we just had a news story that there was a planet in the habitual zone of another galaxy about 2 lightyears away. We just can't be the only things out there and there are most likely civilizations far more advanced than us. I wouldn't be surprised if there are interplanetary relationships like in Mass Effect on the other side of the universe right now.

The idea of us meeting them, however? I don't really know. Right now, we don't have anything that can get us from one super far away place to another in the way that would be needed to actually find intelligent life. But there's always a possibility that they have the technology to do that. Also, if we actually focus our technology on space travel (which is what I believe to be the single most important thing to be funding), we might get closer and within the next couple hundred/thousand years? Sure, we'll probably find something.
