I don't know. Logic tells me no. Then there are times everything logically goes out the window. Times like that are enough for me to say I don't know.

I won't believe in ghosts or demons until I see them myself.
Although I'd LIKE to believe such things, as their existence would certainly make the world more interesting.

As I didn't see any ghosts at my boarding school, a 100+ year old former tuberculosis ward of an insane asylum, I don't believe in those. We even went to the crawlspace under the basement to smoke joints or crawl from building to building (about 150-200 meters) and still no ghosts.

Demons are usually involved with religion so I don't believe in those either.

I've encountered one ghost in my life. At least that's what I think it was
Short story, believe me

But demons...... Don't know, really

its unlikely, but i reckon it would be cool if they did exist. The world's lost so much of it's mystery, it would be nice (maybe not the right word) if there were ghosts and demons and other supernatural stuff

While it is difficult to rule out ghosts entirely, I have to say that I've never seen one and most ghost stories that I've heard can be pretty easily explained away as either due to jittery nerves or hallucinations.

Many "ghosts" are seen at night, either when the observer is tired or nearly asleep. It's very easy to see things that aren't there in the dark as well. And then there's other "ghost" stories in which people report spooky sounds or opened doors that they don't remember opening (hey, maybe you didn't close it properly?).

My mother believes in Ghosts - she says she saw one in a dream. See what's wrong with that statement? She also says that she can smell our dead dog sometimes - in the place that our dog always used to sit in (again, see why she could pick up the scent of a dog in a place that a dog has been consistently resting in over 10 years?).

Maybe there are Ghosts. But I haven't seen one, and most of the stories of ghosts are from people who desperately miss their deceased loved ones. They usually aren't backed up by any hard proof. Many of the "ghost" photos can be easily faked with either camera trickery or image editing software.

Sorry, but if there were such things as ghosts, wouldn't the world be full of them? How many billions of humans have died over the course of history? Shouldn't the world be absolutely chock-a-block full of ghosts?

As for demons? Similar to ghosts. There's no real proof outside of personal anecdotes, which can never be seriously taken as evidence. Personal experience is not the same thing as proof. You could have been hallucinating (it happens, even to sane people, especially if they're confused or tired), you could have seen something that wasn't really there, or you could have been half-asleep, half-dreaming (sleep paralysis - a condition in which your eyes are open but you aren't really awake. You can't really move and the sensation is usually terrifying. It's a diagnosable problem that can be treated, and prevented - just don't sleep on your back).

So unless someone brings in a certifiable demon head, I'm going to be sceptical. The Burden of Proof always rests on the one making the extraordinary claim.

No.

Most ghosts can be explained by natural phenomenon and reports from the past can be explained by mental illness. Same with demons.

A person with sleep walking tendencies moving shit in there house, wakes up, GHOSTS!

Many demonic encounters can be explained by sleep paralysis as well as good old fashioned being completely out of your fucking mind.

Demonic possession and speaking in tongues was likely nothing more then epilepsy.

I really really wish they were real, don't get me wrong. A world of excitement and mystery in the unknown...

Sadly the only place you can be terrified by the unknown is about six thousand feet below sea level.
This precisely. Everything from poltergeists to ouija boards has a rational explanation.

more interesting question: do you believe in ghosts, if yes why?
p.s. no.

Ghosts are possible, since the human thought process is energy, and energy cannot be lost, only transformed. Not likely, but possible.
science fail!
Epic science fail! :p

It always amuses me when people say ghosts don't exist. It is a shame you never lived in my house. That place was and probably still is very haunted, I moved out years ago. The ghost was cool though for the most part. Although he used to play the piano really freaking loud at like midnight or one AM every so often. It would last like five minutes to, it always got so cold no matter how hot it was. Just for the record we didn't own a piano, nobody was playing piano music. Everyone was asleep by like 10 o clock always, the piano woke us all up though every time. We didn't really have AC so when it suddenly dropped 60 degrees in the middle of August when it's 80 something degrees out its a little bit of an eyebrow raiser. Also a grandfather clock used to go off almost every night as well, that was pretty loud to. We didn't even own a clock that made any form of noise at any point unless it was an alarm clock. The ghost did other things as well but I wont go into it. I'm sure most of you that don't believe in ghosts will write me off and say whatever you want. Really I don't care if you don't believe me. I just wanted to share my story. As for Demons, I believe they exist as well.
Well that's the problem. We didn't live in your house. There's no way of us knowing whether or not what you are saying is true, or whether or not you even remembered events correctly.

Let's assume your story IS true (big assumption). Is it possible, just, slightly possible, that someone crept downstairs and banged on the keyboard? You assume everyone was asleep by 10, but it's not as if someone couldn't have woken up. As for the clock - again, maybe it wasn't from your house. If you slept with the window open, you can hear sounds from outside. Again, I don't know - I wasn't in your house and I don't know if there were any houses near by. As for a drop in temperature... I don't know where you live so I can't offer any theories.

Again, my point is that a lot of people say that there are ghosts, but their evidence is really weak. A few odd sounds in the night doesn't classify as "good" proof. The sound could have come from elsewhere. Someone could have been making it as a prank. You might have imagined it. A neighbour could be responsible. I'm not saying it was any of those things, but those are some possibilities.

It seems to me that a lot of people want to believe in Ghosts, and so they lock in the assumption that whatever they heard/saw was due to a ghost. If you want to be sceptical, always ask yourself "could it have possibly been anything else"? If you thought there was a ghost playing the piano every night at midnight or 1 am, did you stay up at night to see it? Did you try to investigate where the sound was coming from? If you didn't, you can't say it was a ghost, because you made no effort to explore, or to investigate.

I have been in "haunted houses" - I was in England for a year and the house we were in apparently had a woman drown in the tub. My mother, again, claims she saw a Ghost or heard the taps running. I never saw anything or heard anything.

While it's impossible to completely discredit the idea of such ethereal beings, let's just say that it's very unlikely in the same way that it's very unlikely to survive falling off the summit of Mt. Everest.

People really need to let go of these silly, detrimental superstitions.

Ghosts... yes...

Demons... Maybe... But they're probably actually natural earth spirits or something and not related to religion...

No, I don't. It's what people call things they don't understand instead of finding out what those things actually are.

One could become a demon through insanity, thus must be culled from the heard, does that answer your question of my opinion ?
