Poll: Do you believe in Ghosts/Demons?

Fine, but let's be clear. I've sen ghosts, and I uphold my granma's beliefs. She believed all daemons were inside us, and we were the only ones afflicted with our particular kind. But anyway. Me and my friends were on a road trip(it always starts like that...) and we drove up to this gate. The moment we hit the gate, I started wailing on my friend, and I became scarily violent. I'm usually a non-violent person, but you would have sworn I was having roid rage or somethin. My buddy got very serious and depressed. We got 10 feet away from the gate and snapped back to normal. I was so freaked out I stomped on the gas pedal and we took off(he was driving). Another time, I was walking in front of a cemetery, and I heard whispering coming from the lot next to me, but I was the only one even outside.

It's arguably impossible to prove or disprove their existence at this point in time. The perpetuation of the idea comes from humanity's natural fear of the unknown and tendency to develop phobias over unexplained horrors, and this leads even me to sometimes genuinely wonder if what just happened wasn't something supernatural.

That being said, I'd never make a decision based on these impulses that could actually have real-world consequences.

I don't believe in ghosts per-se and I'm not by any means religious but I do feel special connections with certain things, many of which my late grandfather also considered important and therefore I do believe in the concept of a spirit. Not to mention, I've always been fascinated with the paranormal.

Personally, yes I do.
I believe ghosts are real to a certain degree. The concept of the afterlife is far more realistic to me than places such as Heaven or Hell.

Not at all no. I suppose anything is possible, but ghosts and demons seem to just be human imagination.

My mother used to tell me her experiences with ghosts but not in a way to scare me. Haven't seen any myself but I don't say they couldn't exist. As for demons? I think of that concept of having inner demons. I think the cliche of people having a light and dark side applies here.

Sadly scientists are predominantly spiritual (if not religious) and only a tiny minority of them are reductionalists. the whole atheistic view of science is really people viewing a very loud minority (the same way we're forced to view loud minorities of other 'religious' zealots, save this time it is reductionalist athetistic zealots).

That said I believe in anything that can be proven, and give theory status to anything that can only be proven 60% of the time. Supernatural activity can fit into that block, I'd guess, as 90% of statistics are poo anyway.

For example: believing that people are psychic... but we just happen to be VERY BAD at it, only suceeding about 20 or so % of the time. The % of sucesses ARE statistically significant by scientific measurement standards, it's just that once you measure up the sucessful results.. well, they stink.

I don't believe in ghost and demons in the spiritual sense. If they do exist I think that they aren't the lingering souls of those who have died or evil spirits bent on malicious activity for an even eviler entity. Perhaps ghosts might be some sort of psychic imprint on a specific area due to very powerful emotions; not the actual person, just a mark they left behind. Demons could be some sort of beings from another dimension that occasionally wind up in our dimension. Think daemons from 40k.

Course I've never had any experiences with any "ghosts" or "demons" so all this is just theorizing on what they are if they actually do exist.

As a Christian its one of the things i do believe in.
And im not about to try and prove if they are real.
There are something i believe you DON'T mess with.

I pray ill never see anyone i love try and mess with them.

you realise if you were brought up muslim you'd believe in djinn and if jewish rabbis creating golems?
your evidence is a book written by bronze age tribesmen with no clue about epilepsy, mental illness, etc who needed an explanation for these sorts of things.

Unlikely, but I dunno. And without trying to start a religious debated, I'm wondering how many of the people voted 'no such thing as ghosts' but believe in god, because it is kind of the same thing. An unseeable existence... Yet I'm sure someone will quote this, and correct me on how it isn't the same thing with some reason that makes no logical sense at all...

I believe what i believe out of my own experiences.
I don't care what YOU believe.
Or what anyone else believes.

And if you want to play that game the fine.
Its true that mental diseases have explained away many things, but i also believe that sometimes a Disease can be caused by Supernatural forces.
Is this always the case?
Of course not.
Can it be proven that it happens?
Not with normal Logic.

Also to add to the reason for why i believe yes, i have had experiences with Demons.
I know people who were possessed.
If you don't believe me then hey, im not gonna waste my time and try and convince you.

Ghosts don't exist, but I'm not sure about Daemons. I've read too many Warhammer 40k novels so I always take precautions to protect myself from Daemons.

If ghosts DO exist and If I turn into a Ghost when I die then I'll spend my time annoying people by telling them to go to the Dagobah system.

Supernatural beings as a whole, yes. I believe I've had more than a couple encounters in my house, and others have had similar things happen.

So no, of course I don't. People believe in these things (this includes gods, although it's not the only reason they do) because they want to, not because there's solid evidence for it.
