Do you mean
stage magic or real can't-be-explained-by-science magic? Because Harry Houdini (who was
definitely a real person - he died less than a hundred years ago and there are frickin' photos of him!) performed
stage magic: tricks designed to deceive the audience into believing (even for a short time) that he possessed superhuman powers. No one has ever claimed (to my knowledge) that Houdini was an actual
wizard. In fact, he was mostly a stunt performer specialising in spectacular escapes.
Real magic (if that's not an oxymoron) would be that kind that Moses used to part the Red Sea, or Odin used to see the future, etc. It occurs a lot in myths and legends.
So to answer both questions: Yes, I believe stage magic exists. (It would seem a weird thing to deny the existence of!) But I don't believe in "real" magic.
