There's an absence of a "no" option.
Look, one of the few religious figures we know is real is Mohammad.
Jesus is dubious. There is NO proof he existed. The timeline of his life is problematic. For the most important man on Earth, all the information about him is rather sketchy. It's not a "no duh". What solid evidence is there to back up his existence? There is none. All "records" of him came decades after the fact. See the problem with that? I don't think he was a real person; just as real as Zeus or Loki.

Well duh he was a real person. This is actually a fact.
I mainly agree with Beckett360.
I am a Catholic but then again I am a teenager and some things I'm not sure on, like Mary being a virgin.
But yes Jesus was real.

Jesus was real. He was mentioned by a few other sources. He was a Messiah (Messiah a word used for healers and miracle workers at the time by the Jews). Whether his power was real or not or if he was the son of God or the saviour, depends on what you believe.

He is mentionded in the Roman Record and in other non-religious texts. I believe he is the Messiah. ((note: I am actually a Messianic Jew, and I dont believe in organized religion, or religion in general. so please save your vile for someone who's beliefs you understand))
but each person must come to their own terms about Him. he takes all willingly, but forces no one.
Shalom

Historical records have proven a person the equivalent of Jesus existed in that time period although he never claimed he was a deity. Doing so would just evaporate the credibility of his miracles.

Of course Jesus was a real person.

The "myth" hypothesis that Jesus and Christianity was somehow some mystic phenomenon based on other deities like Horus and so on was a popular argument from the 1920s, but it died a quick death since the comparisons were largely superficial. It has virtually no support in academia.

Now, 90 years later, people like Bill Maher and the Zeitgeist dudes seemed to have somehow missed the memo.

I do understand he was just a king of the time. I also believe there is evidence and timelines of this. So yes, he did exist.

I believe that there was probably a guy named Jesus who might have ranted about God and was the first magician and my have died on a cross, but that in no way, shape or form proves the existence of a God or that he was the son of God.

For the record, I'm a strong atheist.
huh, from your post here i thought u were a devote christian =]

I agree though
No, I'm saying there might have been a guy named Jesus back then. (its probable that there was. It was a fairly popular name) But I don't believe he was the son of a God nor do I believe in any God.

Besides, there were tons of people around that time who ranted on the streets in the same manner that this supposed "Jesus" did. There was a plague of these "messiahs" running around the Middle East.
Just to clarify, you understood i was being sarcastic right? lol

Yes, I reckon he was real, all the religious stuff, I don't buy, but science reckons he existed, so I'll go with that.

I think it's quite possible that Jesus existed or that several people were merged into one (similar to Robin Hood). It's also possible that he/they was/were a healer of sorts, a philosopher or a cult leader. Many legends have a basis in fact, after all. And history isn't an accurate science.

Where's "Yes, but I feel that some of the stories/events involving him are exaggerated hyperbole to demonstrate a point" ?
