I think he's been proved to be real, but so what?

Plenty of people nowadays claim to be Jesus/God reborn or in human form, and others who claim to be able to talk to the dead, etc.

Just because he was a real man doesn't mean anything he said or supposedly did was true or real. There are a number of logical reasons for the supposed miracles that he performed (far more logical and simple then him being the son of God).

Jesus was a human being and a historical hero of mine. Like Ghandi, or Martin Luther King Jr.

I do NOT, however, believe him to be the son of God

have no idea what the Horus or Budha arguments about this are, but sreiosuly, no.

I heard a podcast once that discussed this, and they read extract and such that were supposed to prove jesus' existence. Y'know, all thoe non-christina sources. Well, they all proved that there were christians who followed Jesus. WE KNOW THAT ALREADY. There was NO proof that there was a Jesus.

I do believe that there was a real man named Jesus (or something like that) who was a religious figure around that time. From what I understand, he was one of several (many?) prophets that arose from amongst the Jews. However, for some reason he was more successful than most and managed to get a major religion started.

I believe that Jesus was probably a real man who decided to tell people to be nice to each other for a change. Whether he sincerely believed he was the messiah, or whether he simply pretended to be to get people on his side is up for debate. I also believe that the miracles were mostly added later to increase people's belief that he was the messiah, and not just a very naughty boy.

He probably was real, a few historians wrote about him, though I can't name any of the top of my head.

As for the whole performing miracle thing though, no.

It's entirely plausible that he existed. There's even SOME archeological evidence to prove it. That said, did he have magical powers? Doubtful. Was he an Arabic Jew? Very yes. Was he a virgin birth? Excuse while my science laughs hysterically at you.

He was real.

The Romans were very good at keeping records. They kept records of him and his 'little uprising', he was real.

As for the what goes on in the bible, well, books written by 'eye witnesses' alive several centuries after the fact... hmmm...

Sure, I believe Jesus was a real person just as I believe Budda was one too. I have always said though that the reason we know about Jesus, is because he had a better publicist. During that time period, there were other people reported doing the same thing as Jesus. "shrug" Schmeh.

Do I believe that Jesus Christ, the Christian "Messiah", ever existed? No, not at all.

Yeah, he existed.

Along with a dozen other self-claimed messiahs.

Was he? No. Stop believing that. His magical powers were as realistic as Peter Pan and the Tooth Fairy.

Jesus was a jewish preacher in the land of israel. Due to the popularity of his teachings and sermons, jews referred to him as the King of the Jews. The Romans, fearing an uprising, decided to nip this potential problem in the bud and crucified him like a common criminal to send a message to the people. This obviously failed, as they made him a martyr and created a religion that, for the most part, perverted his teachings.
I'd like to believe that he was just a man that used religion to preach the importance of peace and love, and it doesn't matter if you believe him to be the son of God or not, that is something to be revered in a man.
