Care to clarify with a couple of examples?
The campaign DLC for Gratuitous Space Battles.
The Vietnam DLC for Magicka.
Song DLC for Rock Band, pick the songs you want to play from the bands you like and ignore the rest.

If I like the game and the DLC interests me I will buy it. If it doesn't seem worth it I won't.

If it's a game I really like, and more than just cosmetic/minor changes, I'll probably get the DLC. My favorite stands with Just Cause 2's Tuk Tuk with a canon on it. That was just fun. But the best example of DLC I've ever seen was Pigsy's Perfect 10, for Enslaved. It was a whole story about a side character prior and up to meeting the protagonists, and made you care more about him. It was totally worth it, without question.

It depends on the content. If it's something like DLC for Fallout, Killing Floor or Beat Hazard, then I'll buy it no problem. Usually it's reasonably priced and worth the few dollars. If it's something like the CoD DLC, usually not since I don't feel justified in paying $15.00 for some new maps. That's not a CoD knock since I enjoy the games; I just don't see it worth the cost.

Okay, if it adds a significant amount of content, I'll buy it. Specific example? The Fallout: New Vegas DLC. Sure, you can probably debate which ones are good or bad quality wise (I very much enjoyed both DLCs for New Vegas) but they do give you a significant amount of gameplay for the price you pay (I realize that you could beat Honest Hearts pretty fast by killing everyone outright). Bad example would be BioWare's DLC, especially the Dragon Age stuff (Except for Awakening, still it was pretty short for a full-priced expansion pack but it was good at least). For Dragon Age DLC pay 10$ and you get a couple hours of content with maybe some new gear but that's about it. Mass Effect 2 was better, but it still came down to the fact that they end up being really short and not worth the cash.

I generally do or not depending on the game. If it is on the disk it should be free though and not wrongly labeled as dlc. When in fact it's buying to unlock content you own already.

This isn't to say anything against those titles in particular, but those are EXACTLY the games I don't want to buy DLC for, because they're already huge and I barely had time to play what was already in them the first time around. There comes a point when a guy really just wants a game to be over, you know?

Only if it's for a game I'm not bored of. If I use DLC to revive my interest in a game, it usually dies pretty quick for the same reason I got bored of the game in the first place.

On the subject of DLC, if Capcom are going to charge 400 Microsoft points for each character, they should at least make said characters at least half decent, not worse than half the original cast.
I hope Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 stops being fun before they release more DLC or I'm going to end up wasting all my money a second time.

Depends on what type of DLC we are talking about. If it's skins for characters, then I dont, but DLC that adds to the story like Mass Effect 2's Lair of the Shadow Broker, or Fallout DLC those I buy. Personally i'm getting tired of hearing people whining about DLC, but ah well, you just have to learn to live with it.

Only in a few rare cases, BioWare games, Dynasty Warrirors, PC games more so than console ones, for the pure fact I might trade a console game in.

Usually the time/price ratio is much smaller than the released product's, plus there's also a noticeable drop in quality compared to the main game making the DLC feel too much like a cash-in. Therefore, I do not buy DLC, and I also believe that the resources spent on DLC could be put to better use, such as fixing problems with the original game (Fallout 3 & NV, anyone?) or developing an expansion pack using the existing engine that delivers a similar, more polished experience at a fraction of the development costs. Bottom line is, DLC is a waste of time and money. Have I "played" some DLCs though, yes.

The last DLC I bought was for DA2 - I bought it on Release Day (yes - Day 1 DLC content....)

Considering how badly I got burnt by that game, I don't even consider buying DLC much anymore...

I'd argue it got to that point pretty fast. After running through the game with Team Kamiya (Dante, Viewtiful Joe, Amaterasu) a couple of times the novelty of MvC3 wore off for me and I don't see how any extra characters they could provide would liven it up. Yeah, I agree, the new characters should be somewhat interesting at least if they're going to charge that kind of money for it... what they have in the pipeline just doesn't seem appealing.

I don't sell back many games to Gamestop these days, but this is one of the ones that's getting the boot pretty soon.

Nope. The one time I actually bought DLC was for Dragon Age: Origins, since I wanted to 100% it(never happened before I got sick of the game). Bought two DLC packs for around 6 euros each and I didn't even get 15 minutes worth of gameplay. I felt ripped off big time.
Soooo these days I ignore DLC.
Luckily I got the Ultimate edition of Dragon Age Origins, so I didn't feel ripped off as much as you. But really, they charge $15 on the Playstation store for the Golem companion. I mean it gives about 30 minutes to 1 hour of gameplay for $15. That is not fair pricing.

Back on topic, no I never buy DLC. But if I know a particular game is going to have a lot of it I wait for the GOTY edition to come out. But I never buy DLC by itself.

See, I loved those games, so making them go on longer was great. With Awakening, Shale, and all the others (I've gotten every single DLC for Dragon Age Origins) I doubled the length of gameplay.

I have played through that game twice - that's all of it, Origins and Awakenings and all the DLC.

On Mass Effect two, the Cerberus Network and Arrival don't double the game length, but it adds several hours and some great missions (even if Arrival doesn't make much sense). Plus, I've handed Bioware a big old tip for making two of my very favorite games. When Legacy for Dragon Age 2 comes out later this month, I'll be buying that too. ^^

Yeah, occasionally.

I'm pretty picky about it though. While I have been pleasantly surprised on occasion (Lair of the Shadow Broker), I've also been burned more than once (Arrival).

Music for rock band and anything that significantly enriches the story.
That can't really be any DLC, though, can it? If it were significant, I'd figure that it'd be in the finished game.

It's like tipping at a Restaurant - if a game is good, I give the developers some extra money. Plus it makes the game longer. It's win-win.
I understand what your saying and i agree, (I often buy cheap games i don't need on Steam for that reason) but it's a horrible analogy.

Tipping is NOT optional in a restaurant, whereas DLC is. Servers get paid lower minimum wage than the rest of us so tipping is how they survive. If you can't afford to tip your server, you can't afford to eat in a restaurant. The money doesn't go to the restaurant and doesn't help it survive longer. (P.S. your server has no control over how good you think the food is either)

It would only be the same if all the DLC money went to the programmer or something because they didn't get paid enough by the developer. A tip doesn't go to the house is what i'm saying.
