The reason I ask this is because I haven't really used to buy DVDs until I moved about a year and a half because I get to watch most of what I want to on TV or using the internet. Now I don't have any TV channels and I only use my TV for games and watching DVDs. I currently subscribe to a service that lets me watch TV shows and movies and pay a monthly fee to the TV network who got the broadcasting rights for it, but I still buy quite a few DVDs. In the span of a year I have bought all the seasons of House, Psych, The Mentalist and a lot of movies and single seasons of shows. I realize that I have never had the need when I had the need when I had TV and internet. So that is why I want to see how many of you like to buy a DVD that you can pop in rather than relying on your internet connection or TV to send anything good.

There are way too many classic masterpieces for me not to own.

I buy fucktons of 'm, and I'm actually running out of room.

I used to buy tons of DVD's, but lately there haven't been any movies I just have to have enough to buy. I actually prefer watching Youtube or other web original stuff over anything else now.

I buy the dvds if I like the anime. I don't buy movies though, because I rarely watch them.

Until Netflix Canada stops sucking, and iTunes Canada allows me to use my damn paypal, I'm pretty much stuck buying DVDs.

No. I own very few DVD's and I only purchase them for TV shows that are kind of 'must haves' for me. This means I own all of Seinfeld, Boston Legal and the first 5 seasons of How I met your Mother. Everything else I download/stream.

I have over 500 of them. So yes. Definitely. I love actually having a physical copy of movies.

I only buy movie DVDs. For the rest, I am content with just watching shows on TV and the internet.

I buy my movies and show off PSN. It's a little cheaper that a store bought dvd, any dvd I had before that has been digitalized. I just put them all on external hardrives. Got more room around the house now that my 150+ dvd collection is gone.

Heh, what a coincidence. I have all the seasons of those shows but the newest ones due to lack of funds. All great shows, though Psych almost seems like it could be a prequel to The Mentalist to me. If you haven't checked it out, I'd recommend Scrubs as well. Kinda the same kind of relationship with House as Psych has to The Mentalist. The latter being still humorous, but with a good amount of seriousness as well while the former has serious moments but is just silly.

That aside, I buy some DVDs. I used to use Netflix, but I never used it. And frankly I found it a bit steep at a little less then $100 a year. Now I have Amazon Prime, though the selection isn't very good. But with that, I pay $40 a year due to being a student and it's normally $80.

I also get the shipping perk which I use to buy DVDs. The DVDs I buy are normally TV series. I have a weird OCD where I have to watch every episode of a show in order. So I don't watch them on cable due to not having control which episode is shown and when. I actually don't watch cable at all. It's actually fairly rare for me to buy movies anymore. The only exceptions are movies I really like or movies I think would be good to have around. The latest being Thor and Captain America.

All the time. I love digging through the bargain bins at Wal-Mart and finding the buried treasures.

I used to buy them when I worked in Target (the DVDs were right next to the registers, the temptation was too great), although I don't actually watch movies that often. Some of them are still in their plastic.

I buy a bit. I actually just picked up one yesterday (found one of my favorite movies of all time, Phantasm, for 4 bucks. Couldn't pass that up). I don't buy them often (they are usually too expensive for my very limited budget), but if I find a DVD of one of my favorite movies (hat I don't already own in some form), hells yeah I will pick it up.
