In Ireland, from my experience, people don't have a general term for fizzy drinks when referring to them. We just say the name of the brand. "Fizzy drinks" might be the answer you're looking for here though.

I'd just say fizzy drink. I don't think calling it soda or pop is common round these parts.

I just name it by what brand name it happens to be. It's a lot more common in Britain to say exactly what you want than a broad term, simply because it gets things done quicker meaning we don't have to spend very long talking to you.

I call it whatever brand I'm drinking. Coke, Dr Pepper, Fanta etc.

Other than that I generally just call them fizzy drinks.

Fizzy drinks I guess, but I usually refer to them by the brand I'm currently drinking
Same.

"Soda" and "pop" sound ridiculous to me, especially "pop".

I usually refer to it by whatever it's actual name is.

If it helps, no one in Ireland uses says soda, and I almost never hear pop.

Rarely use such a term, but when I do here in the UK, I call them 'soft drinks' or 'fizzy drinks'.
Pretty much this. I tend to go on brand name, so 'Coke', 'Pepsi', 'Dr Pepper' etc is my usual usage, but when asked to define what those drinks actually are then I'd say either 'soft' or 'fizzy' drinks. Or possibly 'carbonated beverage' in a mock posh accent.

"Cooldrink" is the standard South African name.

Soda is short for soda water, i.e. carbonated water. Pop just sounds ridiculous.

"Soda", "horrible", "acid" , or "stupid".
Depends on what mood I'm in.

Oh, yeah. I hate stupid.
