The ULTRAJOE and the others that I have mentioned in the Who's Popular thread. Basically, everybody I mentioned I consider good friends.
I hate it when "Forum Search" doesn't work.

Can you post a link to the thread? I want too see if I'm there somewhere.

As for me, I care for quite a few people on these forums, but only when they have earned my respect first. I could write a list, but some people may feel somewhat disappointed.

Let's just say that people like Ultrajoe, PurpleRain, Larenxis, Decoy Doctorpus, RAKtheundead, Shivari, Darth Mobius, Haliwali, NewClassic and Khedive Rex are on my list. And before you ask, OF COURSE THERE ARE MORE!
I wasn't saying that this thread is a duplicate. In no way is it. (Although one like this has been done before, back before you or Jallil had ever even heard of the Escapist. Of course, Almighty Joe was the one I named first back then...)

Here is a link:

Sounds like time for another story!

Why did AlmightyJoe change his identity?

EDIT: Aww. I only got one mention. By NewClassic.

Well, anyway, thanks to NewClassic, that was an awesome compliment there.

The Mods made a rule after someone posted a thread about rick-rolling on April 1st. The rule was that if anyone posted a rick-roll, they would be perma-banned. Almighty Joe made a Rick-Roll post BEFORE that rule was announced, but was the first to fall before the wrath of the banhammer. He was banned, but after some consideration by the mods, was allowed to create another profile as long as he swore to not tell everyone this story, or break the rules again. Hell, to this day, I don't think ULTRAJOE has ever even been on probation.
Interesting. I really should stop doing this (I do it frequently), but there is so much to learn about the history of The Escapist forums.

If I remember correctly GEMS and his friend (or himself) J|U|P|I|T|E|R trolled up the Escapist forums soon after his RP failed (PurpleRain's pet spider for the win). It was late and not many people where online, including the mods. If I remember correctly we had a battle of wits between these two users (there may have been another) Darth Mobius, AlmightyJoe, Msch, and myself. There could have been others. Well we fought them, and it was a close thing too. We nearly lost that night but eventually we won, Joe banned them and the Escapist was safe.

Thats the last we saw of GEMS but I think heres still here, watching us. Waiting for the best time to strike.

To be on topic: I suppose I do care about the people on the Escapist if I devote enough of my memory to remember this stuff so I may teach them about the past.

His name was actually General Mostly Electrified Steel. We used the acronmy GEMS because it seemed to anger him and because we thought his name was stupid.

Here is his profile. [http://www.escapistmagazine.com/profiles/view/General+Mostly+Electrified+Steel]

I can't find the thread I was thinking of however. It may have been deleted as many other Troll threads are.

Damn... I really wish I was around at the time. These days such threads would be locked swiftly, and the troll slayers banhammered.

Edit: I think somebody (possibly Fire Daemon) once showed me links to one of MGG=Reviews's reviews and Another thread by GEMS, having a poll about favourite game protagonists, then changing the order of the poll once Gordon Freeman was winning (I think that was GEMS, the avatar looks familiar)

Uh... swiftly put together on topic thing: Looking back at said things conjures up a great deal of respect (and care) for the posters involved.

So that's who GEMS is.

By the way, shouldn't his name be GMES?

Anyways, now I know why Ultrajoe goes on about his apparently evil ways. He is one smart troll.

I will stop derailing, and say that I respect Fire Daemon for removing him before I arrived at The Escapist. As well as the Iron Ninja, because, his name spawned a story idea for me. But I'm not going to tell you that.

I think I might have shown you the MGG troll slaying but the Favourite protaganist was not GEMS or MGG (or was it dun dun dun).

No this was a seperate (yet humerous) user and his "brother" who for some reason hated Gordon Freeman.

Mobius: That wasn't the thread I was thinking of. It seems that the Escapist has some sort of auto delete for threads that reach a certain point of the forum or the mods went out of their way to delete it. Curses.

I care about my XBL friends and most people here. Enough to go out of my way if asked, not very far thought I admit.

So yes I care.
*Rubs picture of Purple Rain*

Ahem, Anyway. He's GEMS because that just got rolling, and the poll changer was killed by the trollslayer Haliwali! But GEMS was banned by Joe(?) for arguing with himself over which him was him.

Its hard to explain so find some locked threads and go though them, good times.....

But we better stop that talk if we don't want a lock ourselves.

It's strange, I don't much care about people I meet only across the internet. But somehow they always grow on me. I never really bond across the 'net though, it just doesn't work for me.

On most forums I belong to some fringe society, moderately active, always on at the wrong time of day for the Americans (that make up the larger part of most forums I've tread over the years) and always ended up as someone everyone has spoken but no-one really knows.

I'll go scuttle about my underdark lair again I think.
