Well, I'm planning to travel a couple of thousand kilometers around the globe for one of them, so I guess I do care.

Well not on here I dont since I never post :p

but I have met people I do care about on the internet, and would be devastated if something happened to them. It's kinda wierd having never met them, but you kinda feel like you already have...or some smart sounding thing like that.

I don't know if I could say that I like the people I meet on the internet like I do personal friends. Though that isn't right because I have gotten to know some of them and I could consider them friends. Not like my best friend I guess is what I meant. I could find a good friend on the internet, I just can't see myself having a best friend without meeting them in person and hanging out.

Ahh, I heard about that from Larenxis. You really are crazy, you know that? The only reason I'm interested in going to the Olympics is really just because it means I'll get to meet some of you, but Australia is REALLY far away.

As for the topic, yes. I'm quite fond of most of the people here, who would have thought an internet forum could have such a large culture and capacity for Epic?

Do I care about people I meet online? Well, that depends on the person, just like meeting people offline. If they're an ass...no, but if they're kind, compassionate, considerate, understanding, or they just have a great personality, then yes.

Crazy... or crazy stupid!

Canada is cold and far away, and cold, but she's such a great person I'd be crazy to miss it up.

Of my internet friends, most are aquaintances, a few are people I enjoy talking to regularly, and two or three I value as much as I do my real-life friends. There's also one I value as much as a family member, which is much fun. All of them I've known for several years, now. It takes a while for me to make friends over the net, since I'm a forgettable kind of guy.

I certainly do. I've actually met somebody I met online in real life. Then again most of the people I'm closest too I've spoken with through Skype.

Some of them. Say for example........on a forum this girl who I talk to all the time and anticipate fable with said that she has a weird lump on her chest ( and yes, boob jokes were made. If they weren't I would have to.), implied it might be cancer, and that she was being cautious by going to a docter next week. I felt genuinely concerned for her. I wasn't crying but my mood dipped from "letz talk aboutz deh pr0n to disturbs youngs people" to ".......I'm going to go watch some carlos mencia" just to get my mood up.

However, if the biggest troll from that forum said he/she had cancer I'd throw a party and bust out the porn to post on Jehovah's witness websites. Why logically debate with those cretins while you can show lolicon, shotacon, guro, and vids of God humping the virgin mary?

can't say I care at all, because if I did I would be lying. I have a hard enough time caring about the people I know in person. occasionally I wonder what may have become of them if I haven't heard from them in a long while...

Definitely. I've got plans to meet up with more than one netfriend. I don't care much for this paranoia that surrounds internet friendships.

Definately. Generally not in MMORPGs, not that I play a lot of those, but on various sites and forums, yes. I think not caring would be, well, stupid. Part of the reason you go online is to meet new people and expand your horizon, right? I mean, not exclusively, of course, but part of it. The rest is.. trolling, arguing and tits.

Here's how I think about it whenever my brother complains to me that I don't have friends:
Your friends wear one mask, mine wear another. Mine just happen to have a bit better of a mask and don't have any normally apparent tone to their voice.
So people I like on the internet I hope do well.
People I don't like I couldn't care less about unless I started wishing them harm.

I do care about particular people I meet online. For the most part I don't know any of the Escapist members or many people in other forums I frequent. However a few individuals I have got to know from Xbox Live (when I still had it) or that I have met via social networking sites have proven to be really cool people.

When i get to know people online in more then a 'hey let's kill stuff together' kind of way, I do start to care. Online friendships only differ in one mayor way to real life friendships, that is that i can't simply drop by and say hello.
