In book smarts, yes. However, I'm not so good with "street smarts". Then again, street smarts don't get you into college.
While on the other hand, book smarts won't get you out of any dark alleys.

No, I don't think I'm smarter than the average person. I may be a better speller, I may even be able to think quite quickly, but does that make me smarter? I'd have no idea what to do if plonked in the outback, or a chemistry exam, or even behind the wheel of a car.

If you want to feel smarter than other people, just jump on a youtube comment thread or other internet cesspool.

And the interesting thing about this question is that everyone thinks that they're above average, but if everyone is above average, than really everyone is just average. That, and intelligence is infinitely complex. Is someone who is booksmart more intelligent than someone who is socially smart? It's very difficult to quantify.

I would say I am fairly intelligent.. I was with another kid whom I took the PSAT and SAT with in 8th grade.. No studying in the matter besides 5ish study lessons which only the English one was help. But the math teacher had a nice firm ass who for some reason was inclined to bend over whenever possible..

I scored a 1450/2400, scoring 570 in critical reading, a 550ish in math and a 380 in english with 4/12 on the essay. Pretty good for a first time 8th grader taking the SATs', no?

i suppose since like im in a grammar school and did well on an IQ test and my 11+ (like really well) and i think a lot about a lot
im also not sociall retarded and am kind of street smart(ish)

at the same time, this could all be a self delusion ive tricked myself into believing since you cant really measure intelligence etc, and it's easier to convince yourself that you're the genious and everyone else are the idiots
but based on some of the people ive met before and still know, i seem to myself quite clever and i guess that's all that counts

Why am I not at all surprised that nobody so far has said that they are below an average person's iq.
Haha, come on man, this is an internet forum, where everybody thinks they're better than everybody else, and everybody has an undeserved sense of self importance.

I'd say I'm smart in some areas, but not so much in others, like everybody, whether they know it or not.

This poll needs a "yes, I do, because I can spell 'similar'".
Where do you get off!

I love how everyone on this thread seems to think they are smarter than everyone else. Isn't that a paradox that means none of you are?

As for me, Top 10 in my year has to state that I beat the mediocre demographic. But really, I'll be modest and hit 'Average', just to counterbalance the idiots.

Yes, based on both IQ tests and personal experience. Can't really explain why, I just "feel" smarter then most, if not all, of my friends or peers. I can retain knowledge easily, solve "difficult" social and academic problems at times with ease, plus I have a weird tendency to "know" what people are thinking before they even speak... I'm odd. Haha. But, yes, I do believe I am smarter then the average person.
