Once every week or two i like going out. Im REALLY not keen on clubs. At all. Bars and pubs are much better in almost every way. As long as you dont vomit or do something illegal nights out are usually fun. Everyone does embarrassing things.

Yes. I absolutely love beer (IPAs FTW!), but I'm not a big fan of hard liquor. Also, I don't really like getting drunk. Every now and again I do end up getting drunk, but most of the time I regulate myself to one or two beers, give myself a mild buzz, and go to sleep.

I have vineyard owners in the family, so I grew up with wine at dinner but never saw the appeal of drinking to excess. These days my social drinking is pretty non-existent since a fair segment of my social circle are either working on having kids and abstaining for that reason or are semi-observant relgious types and so don't serve it at their parties.

Some alcohol, well, pretty much only red wine does have some positive effects and there are diseases (liek low blood pressure) that can be somewhat combated by it.
Given that for plenty of people the entirety of their alcohol consumption is that glass of wine with dinner, I think that's a little harder to brush off, isn't it?

Oh and lets not forget the "i drink a 50 dollar acohol every day but ill complain tha im poor becuase my money "dissapear".
Eh, poor financial skills aren't unique to drinkers - I hear people complain about being broke even though they eat out too often, or buy too many games or collectables, or lease a car when they could take the train (or a fancier car than necessary), or buy/rent a bigger house than they need. If someone doesn't know how to budget it's not the drinking that's the real problem there.

Yes in moderation for a Brit, but I'm aware that American version of excessive is the British version of Breakfast so...

Why yes. On occasion to excess, but mostly not nearly as much as one would think a university-level music student would.

I do, but the times where I drink come few and far between. Normally, I tend to be a social drinker, but even then it is very rare for me to drink more than 2 glasses.

Maybe 1 or 2 per month, sometimes skipping a few months. I don't really feel much inclination to drink. But, Mike's Hard Lemonades are soooo yummy... They are so good in my tummy yummy yummy give me more.

I drink about once every 1-2 months, and find I prefer scotch or whiskey when I do.

I have about a drink a day. probably too much but whatevs, its not like im addicted to it. It's just really cold here during winter and since we don't like paying much for heating, it's really cold in my room. A shot of Captain Morgan Black helps warm the body. During summer I don't drink at all except during parties/gatherings. And when I'm at home instead of college I don't drink.

I have a couple beers a week--never more than one a day--and usually only after a long, exhausting day or a particularly good day. A few people in one of my classes recently turned 21 and keep trying to get me to go bar-hopping with them and get wasted, and I keep refusing them. I honestly don't get the fascination with drinking to the point of drunkenness. "It's something you should experience! C'mon, have fun with us!" Yeah, sorry, not particularly wanting to be around you all when you're hammered, and even more unwilling to wake up the next morning with a hangover.

Straight edge for life baby, I hate what alcohol does to people, it tastes horrible and I just don't see the appeal. I have nothing against people who drink moderately but that's a rare case when you're at university.

All of these kids who "don't like the taste". You aren't drinking the right things. Don't be afraid of a mixed drink. A little Whiskey and water is pretty good, along with whiskey and ginger ale or a good stout. I'm a scotch kind of guy myself, but if all you've had is straight up Jack Daniels or Bud Light, you've had fine examples of the most bland and boring alcohol out there (well, Jack isn't bland, but it is boring). Broaden your repetoire and you might be pleasantly surprised by what you find.

Moderation is key by the way. Drinking to get drunk is a surefire way to turn yourself off any liquor you could enjoy and fuck your life up in general.

Almost 30, have never drank in my life, but I've tasted wine and beer, don't care for either. I have no interest in being drunk either.

Didn't drink any at all when I was younger, started drinking very little when I was in university, and now drink maybe once a week (not enough to get drunk, but sometimes mildly buzzed), and get somewhat drunk (tipsy?) a couple of times a year.
I think it's a great invention, alcohol.
Edit: Oh yeah, I forgot the why: I like the taste, I like what it does to people mentally and socially (unless way too much, obviously), and... I guess that's it. The health benefits have nothing to do with it, except in the rare case of me drinking pink gin for an upset stomach (and even then it is unlikely I would if it didn't taste good).

To be fair, alcohol is kind of an acquired taste. There's a reason that stuff like Smirnoff Ice, Mike's Hard Lemonade, and 4loko are so popular with 15-18 year-olds: they don't taste like alcohol. (Not hatin' on the last one, I love 4loko too.) Whiskeys and bitter beers, regardless of whether they're high- or low-quality, can take a bit of getting used to.

I mean, I mostly drink well whiskey, shitty beer, and malt liquor, but I certainly didn't start that way.

Personally, no. Don't like the smell, don't like the way it affects people, don't like the idea of impaired mental faculties. Also, my constitution isn't really made for it.

I don't mind other people drinking, at least in reasonable amounts. It can be weird seeing people I know drunk though, as most of them are either seldom drinkers or those with strong tolerance.

CAPTCHA: Walk the plank. Yes, I suppose that's possible if one has too much rum...

I drink probably three times a week, and I get fairly drunk maybe once every three weeks or so. I drink during the week because it nearly instantly relaxes me, I drink socially because I become more outgoing, and I get drunk socially because it inexplicably creates strong social bonds.

In my group of friends I'm also clearly the biggest light-weight, I drink on average half of what my friends do. (ie. 1 girly for every pint they drink)
When you say girly what exactly do you mean?

I mean half-pints, I drink literally half of what they do. (the term "girly" might not be completely PC (or common) it's what my 'I spent a year in Australia'-roommate calls them...)
