Yes but I only started when I turned 18. That's a positive about Australia right there, no 21+ drinking age limit.

Beer often, wine with a meal. I don't tend to drink hard liquor so often as in sufficient quantities it has an unpleasant tendency to conspire with my stomach lining so that they both make an untimely bid for freedom via my throat and mouth.

Which is a shame, as I like a nice single malt on occasion.

Somehow I seem to have contracted drinker's cognitive dissonance- I don't seem to make the association between heavy drinking and the less fortunate side effects. Oh well...

I don't mind if other people drink, so long as they do so responsibly. As for myself, I'm not fond of the taste.

Alcohol is my one true love. My reason for living, the only thing that makes me happy and the sole reason they haven't found me in a bath tub sitting in warm water with my wrists slit.
Wow o__o

More power to you, I guess...

Heh, I used to be in that situation myself. Luckily I managed to pull myself out of it enough that I don't need alcohol to get by anymore, but the urge does occasionally come back when life slows to a crawl and I have nothing going on to distract myself from things.

I wish you good luck on finding a way to improve your situation to the point that you don't have to rely on the alcohol anymore.

It goes two ways.
I don't drink - People look down on me.
They drink - I look down on them.
People look down on you because you're a smug twat, not because you don't drink.

I suppose your probably just trolling but for what it's worth:

Chill out and stop generalizing dude. If I had the links I would cite the research thats been done showing red wine reduces the risk of heart disease and many alcohols are a fabulous source of antioxidants that help reduce the risk of alzheimers. There are lots of things that are poisonous in large amounts, but completely harmless, or even healthful when used responsiblity (re: the fucking prescription your doctor write you half the time)

The problem your noticing is people who don't know when to stop, believe it or not your judgement skills are not seriously effected until you've consumed several alcoholic drinks in a short time period. You can still, quite easily say "you know what, this tastes awesome, but I'm starting to feel a little tipsy, time to stop". It the people who don't hit that point that keep going until they lack the judgement skills to stop themselves (re: potential alcoholics).

I totally respect you if you don't like the taste of alcohol, or can't drink it for religious or philosophical reasons, but don't pretend that there is no way to lead a healthy life while still drinking booze.
No, I'm not trolling.
I hate alcohol with a burning fury and the only reason most start to drink is because some stupid jackass told them to and they couldn't turn it down because of peer preasure or they drink because that's the only way they dare to talk to that random hottie in the middle of the floor.

And no, you are wrong.
Your judgement skills are affected as soon as you have had one beer.
That's right, ONE. You only THINK that it isn't but it is.

I don't want your Respect nor do I expect it.
Nor do I return it because I haven't seen anything you've done to earn it.
I am not talking about healthy lives. I just hate alcohol.
You obviously have a very fixed and centered world view, and nothing I can ever say or do
would change that. So I won't bother overmuch with trying to convince you.

Alcohol does seriously fuck some people up, I'm not going to pretend it doesn't. The problem is that your are literally trying to make a gross generalization that the only kind of drinking possible is binge drinking. Since I'm assuming your underage, I will admit that in all likelihood your entire circle of friends can't make that distinction yet either (it being an illegal substance for them, so they have to down it as quickly and secretly as possible).

You'll likely find that in 10 years your opinion about drinking will probably slowly begin to shift as more people around you start to realize that they most certainly do possess the ability to stop themselves when there judgement starts to become seriously impaired. You may also find that more people realize that getting a hangover is fucking stupid when you could have a single beer or alcoholic beverage, and be no worse off then a flushed face and subtle sense of relaxation (you do know right that alcohol is just relaxes the flow of blood).

PS:
When you start looking for a job you may occasionally have an interview in a bar or pub for a casual relaxed setting. I actually had my last co-op end of term evaluation/discussion with my boss over a pint of beer. Was fun, neither of us got drunk, and we went back to work afterwards.
PPS
I wrote a university level history essay while drinking a beer, I got an 80%.

I'm 15, so no. I don't know how things are going to go in my adult life, but for now tea and soda are fine.

Sometimes, although not so much anymore. I have a tendency to take things too far, and after going through a period of drinking a bottle of scotch whiskey as my breakfast, I quit. But I do enjoy a good Heineken every now and then.

I drink, but rarely. I enjoy doing it with friends, but the opportunity for such is relatively rare for me, so I don't drink often. There's certainly nothing wrong with it.

You can take your group mentallity and stay far away from me as possible while I'll take my inviduallity and go the other way.
Individual for not drinking eh? Dead wrong on that one. So you shun everyone who doesn't drink and look down upon them because they do? Not a very social person are you? If you have had problems in the past with alcohol that doesn't mean its bad for everyone. I imagine a day in your life goes like this

Friend: "Man alcohol is not that bad at all."
You: "Alcohol good? *Spit on friend* You are a fucking moron who has no intelligence whatsoever, get the hell away from me."

You have issues dude.

yeah I do on occasion I waited until it was actually legal for me to do so. I've never been drunk nor do I plan to I don't really see why you'd want to do that to yourself, I've heard and seen some pretty bad things happen when people get really drunk so I just decided that yes I'll drink but never to excess its worked so far
