My play style is usually defensive, but that doesn't mean I always pick defensive traits. It depends on the game, for one. Some games, defensive traits suck. I've played enough to know that sometimes the best defense really is a good offense.

I'd rather be a "Rogue" character than a strict offense or defense type though.

Games these days are quite balanced. They insist on making the defensive option just as good as the offensive. This means that your chances are the same. But with offense, the battle is over faster, and is decided more decisively. So I go with offensive.

Magical defense.
Because even if you hit me with your all mana consuming god forsaken energy blast and I survive. you are fuckin screwed.
PLus physical attacks are easier for me to dodge and stuffs, so its all cool.
I liked this in Demon's souls the most.
Im a jack of all trades, but my highest stat is Faith.
My second is dex
then everything else is btween 30-45 from there.

I just go for the physical offense, give me something to hold in my hand and I'll find a way to bash someone's skull out! I'm a damage sponge, so long as I can wail on you with multiple strikes you'll be sure to fall under my awesome might!

Defense wins championships. But in a hack-and-slash I want the game's equivalent of the BFG. D only works when the developers put effort into the defensive game mechanics. Like in sports games, for example.

I'm slightly more comfortable with supporting an offense than any other role. I hate staying back at base, and whilst I can do the frontline work, I prefer to be the one dropping turrets, ammo, health... the vital stuff to make an attack work.

I'm a shield guy, is it because I'm cautious?

Hell no.

In Dragon Age Origins: Shield Dwarf.

In Hero Quest (OLD tabletop game): Shield Dwarf.

In Mass Effect 1&2: Soldier, you'd say, 'well that's the offensive class!' whereas I say 'It's the class with access to Heavier Armour'.

World of Warcraft: Priest.
You'd also say there's no armour or shields to this one too, unless you're familiar with Power Word: Shield.

It's just something I've got going on with me gaming...
I'm a very defensive player, I like to know I'll last a good while.
But like I said this doesn't make me any more cautious as a player.

I still run head-long into trouble when it's there.

I am a mage or a rogue, if I need a sheild I messed up bad. Speed agility and huge fireballs are my way of fixing problems.

When you know I am in the room it is too late for you... or I am a dead man.

I tend to pick wherever the majority of the equipment lies.
If most of the items you find affect one set of stats positively, but affect another set negatively, I usually go with the positively affected stat.

I just find it inefficient to be a mage casting spells with a heavy battlehamer or a warrior swinging a magical tree branch around (Zephyr Blade not included).
So I pick Other.

I tend to lean towards Lightning Bruiser territory, while it may be possible for me to go down in less then like, 3 hits, your chances of landing those 3 hits while I'm dancing circles around you and knocking off 60 hit points per attack seem pretty damn slim.

In other words, defense be damned, I like speed & power.

I tend to like support/ or buffs. So I often go Magic Defense, because that's what they're usually tied to. It goes for a question of awesome but unpractical versus boring but safe.

I do sometimes go for the defense, it usually does me good, plus if you have strong defense you can wail on the enemy beating him while he tries to put a scratch on you. BUT i cant remeber the last time i did this or had the chioce...

I'm more of a hands-on-kick-your-head-in guy when it comes to offense. But, if the shield I just picked up can be applied directly to the forehead of my enemies, then I'm all game.

I tend to avoid extreme defense just because in my experience any time it's hypothetically necessary, the better option is to just min-max and WTFPWN the enemy with big numbers...

I personally will generally go for the defense just because it can be down right hilarious to watch an enemy try to hack away your health and coming with nothing but shield at the end of their weapon.

I tend to pick attack first and defense seconed however if I'm on a seconed or third playthrew of a game and want to take out a tough enemy (sepiroth in kingdomhearts for example) then I pick defense first since the extra defense points usally pay off for me in the end
