As you might have seen the bitter side [http://www.geek.com/articles/games/iphone-shown-running-world-of-warcraft-20090427/]. Maybe because I'm definately not a fan of WoW, instead my friends who are obsessed with the game, have become incredibly anti-social and are able to talk only about the game. The same way I sometimes feel about iPhone users, who just ignore everyone (for instance at a party) and just toy with their brilliant Apple gadget.

Therefore I am somewhat afraid that when one contagious thing (iPhone) might meet another (WoW), the result will be horrifying. Now I might be overreacting, but still I'd like to hear your opinion on these questions:

1)Do you worry about this thing?
2)Do you thing one will be able to play WoW on iPhone?
3)Could the video be real (opinion)?

I don't think it could work on the iPhone, what with all the shit you have to manage at once in that game. If they can get it to work in a way that's no more complicated than playing it on the PC, then I think it'd be pretty cool.

I use to play warcraft and I am finaly free of its grip, I dont want to see others have to go through that but even worse because it would be portable.

Oh no anything but that. (Not)

As an iPhone user, I dont spend too much time playing games on it, i cant imagine people would spend 12 hours playing a portable game. (The way they do on a computer)

that looks like it would suck so much. Everybody who has played wow has seen how much stuff is on the screen, all your spells, all your items, the list of party members and even enemy names. The hardcore WoW fans wouldnt be able to raid or pvp cause that interface is crap.

As long as Blizzard keeps being independent and Activision's true love I'd be fine with it.

1) Never worry about the game... try the economy, swine flu and angry white women.
2) Not with any finesse... the interface (hotkeys, for example) is extraordinarily cramped. A specialized version would have to be made, geared towards the peculiar specs of the iPhone.
3) Could the video be real? Perhaps. I'm more inclined to disagree due the level of graphic effects present on screen... lots of grass, high draw distance, etc. The specs of an iPhone and 3D capabilities place it more along Sega Saturn/less than Playstation One territory: Which, needless to say, is nowhere NEAR what WOW requires as a minimum.

Examples of iPhone's "Best" 3D Capabilities:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2beb2Q380vc - Time Crisis
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8eRj1ps1a_U - Brothers in Arms
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CFA1EOWRWaA - Fastlane Street Racing

Time Crisis uses full 3D, suffers in framerates. Brothers in Arms same story. The Street Racing Game, it's hard to tell but if you know what you're looking for there are lots of low-poly models trackside, 3D foliage (trees, etc) significant pop up going on... something non-existant in the WOW video... and something that would need to be built ground-up by Blizzard to support.

In other words, the core software would not allow itself to be "scaled down" as far back as the iPhone would demand... plus, the loadtimes on the iPhone were faster than my Quad Core desktop? I think not... lol.

Even if it was, how long would the battery in the iPhone last playing it?
Not long I'd guess.

I don't worry about it at all, because at MOST what players could do with it would be check their mail and auction houses and maybe do a couple trash quests. NO ONE could raid with those. It would be impossible.

Some of my friends don't shut up as is. I cannot imagine how bad it will get once it hits iPhone, if it ever does.

"Fear those who have no life, for they can not be stopped." The thing I'm really worried about is that. Hordes of antisocial mega geeks who only talk about WoW, letting it consume their lives. (Yes, that means we normal geeks are at the bottom of the cesspool.)

It'll never happen. There's no way in hell it'll be able to handle the lag, especially in Dalaran, or other major cities. Plus WoW has enough key bindings to rival Microsoft Flight Simulator. I'm not worried whatsoever.

I don't play WoW anymore, but if I still did, I can't imagine I'd be too excited about this.

Not having an iphone would of course be a disadvantage but as has been said above I just couldn't see raiding - or even 5 man dungeon runs - being feasible on that kind of set up.

6 command buttons on screen just wouldn't be enough to be able to play properly.
