No. Two reasons for this.

1) I came to terms with the fact that I'm a nerd years ago.

2) I'm an engineer. And a nerd. And it's combinations like that that run the world nowadays.

I was actually surprised to find this was a gaming-related thread (couldn't read the whole title from the link I clicked). Games have become such a part of mainstream society, even granny has her own Wii. The "casual" gaming genre has boomed recently, and so nobody is any more of a nerd for playing video games than they would be for watching TV now.

As a generality, though, my boyfriend and I use "You're such a nerd/dork/etc" as a term of endearment. Not an insult at all.

No I don't, I fully except it and I don't mind at all. Yes I love science, sci fi and fantasy, yes I like Warhammer, Warhammer40k and D&D (I'd love to play those TT games, yet there isn't anyone out here that could introduce me to it), I'd also love to play Magick the Gathering and all kinds of games like that. It's not my gaming that I consider nerdy, and if they call me a nerd because I play games I always explain why I am a nerd and why it has nothing to do with gaming.

Although I do consider myself a Nerd.

But you have to get the reasoning right. In todays world Gaming isn't just for Nerds, the Nerds tend to stand out in gaming though because they either know to much about the game, or play it(them) "to much" (by non-nerd standards)
