I have a hard enough time finishing the games that I DO like so you can pretty much guess what happens to games that I don't like very much.

Yeah, but useally it's either because it has been declared bad by everyone and their dog and I want my own material to make fun of it, or it has some kind of gimmick I really like, like the hook shot from just cause (not that it's a bad game as such, but the thing that made me play to the end certainly wasen't the story, or that i cared for anyone in that game, I just wanted the next chance to hookshot a persuing vehicle into the asfalt and see it bounce back.)

The Latest utterly bad game, was Dark Void, I believe, damn that game sucked on every level, but by god, it had a jetpack!

I manage somehow to finish the game, even though I do not like it in a particular fashion.

I will try pushing myself to complete the game so I can delete it from my computer.

Considering the low incomes of my household I really don't have the opportunity to buy games all that often. So I tend to decide whether I like it or not after I've finished. There are exceptions. I ALMOST gave up on Splinter Cell double agent just because the last 3 missions get insanely hard and buggy. But, I figured it'd be all worth it in the end.

God, was I wrong. Fuck that ending, man

I go through phases of liking stuff, so currently i'm in a valve phase but that will probably change in a week or so. If I don't like a game i'll keep it for a while and test it later at the end of another phase to see if i like it now. I really dissliked Warriors of might and magic for a while but 6 months afterwards i tried again for the 7th or 8th time and really got into it. If I haven't compleated a game then i'll mentally file it as something that has priority for the next phase change. Don't know if that makes sense but basiclly yes i finish everything. Except FFXIII because that game was long and I've only been in 2 FFXIII phases. I'll get round to it sometime...

It really depends on the game itself, but I certainly make the effort to finish them even if I don't like them. The last game I forced myself to finish was Two Worlds, which I didn't actually buy but borrowed from my uncle. The game started off like a hill for me: I started off not being able to stand it, then got into it around the middle of the game, and by the end I was getting sick of it and just wanted it finished. Any game where I spend more time fighting the controls and camera than the enemies just doesn't appeal to me.

No. I'll try my hardest, but I haven't finished all my games.

Notable games that I quit on:

Brood War, used the level cheat and watched the cutscenes after four missions with the Zerg campaign. I just didn't have the Vespene Gas to continue.
Warlords 3 because the stability issues are horrible with that game, but I made it to the last level in the campaign. Still bugs me a bit.
Gabriel Knight 2.

I haven't finished either NFS Underground nor have I finished Black and White, but I like those games, so those don't count, I guess. Once I'm over the fun of Diablo II, I'll try them out.

Terrible games I've completed
I did manage to finish Ultima:Ascension. They weren't joking about how terrible it was.
Tiberian Sun. Command and Conquer and Red Alert are fine. Tiberian Sun is C&C on crack and the cutscenes are torture. I can't even stand Joe Kucan as a villain, let alone a director.

Most of the times, due to trophies/achievements, but there are a couple of games I've given up on since I thought they were way too dull. Most notably Brütal Legend and Yakuza 3.
I tend to do a lot of research on games before I buy them, but in some cases I take a chance when the price is low. Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom was one of those... and I hated every minute of it.
Got my platinum trophy though!

For the most part, yes. Unless there's no story to speak of, and I hate the game.

It took me 8 gamefly rentals to beat Far Cry 2. I hate all Africa-esque music because of that game, and my dedication to beating it.

Nope. Its the game isnt fun then i cant be bothered wasting my time with them.
pretty much this. I stop playing a game when I stop having fun playing it. Sometimes it's a couple hours into the game on my first playthrough of the story, other times it's the 20th time I've completed the story.

I once got into an argument with a guy because he said if I didn't play a game through to the end then I had no right to say I didn't like it.

This guy also admitted to buying CD's by bands he hated just so he could have an "informed opinion" on them or whatever.

Yes, I do. I don't buy many games and want to get my moneys worth when i do, even if I don't love the game.

Heck, I like Oblivion, and I didn't finish it. Guess there's just a tad too much content in there for me. At least for one go.
But to answer your question, no. If it's not fun no point in wasting my time. That's not to say I wouldn't tolerate bad gameplay for a good story, and vice versa.

No way. when a game is boring or annoying then why the hell would you keep playing something that's supposed to entertain you?

I usually try to finish what I start, but I have my limits. The last game I forced myself through was the original Kindom Hearts (which, in my opinion, has aged poorly). I am enjoying the sequel a lot more though.

I attempt to justify the purchase, so not only to I complete the story, I try to get at least 500G in them.
