Poll: Do you finish games you don't like?

No, I don't even finish games I do like (due to time constraints and a huge backlog).

Games I don't like I don't even start, let alone not finish.

The games that I haven't finished yet, it's not because I don't like them (otherwise I wouldn't own them), it's just that games I like more have attracted my attention and the limited amount of time I have to play game, I spend mostly on games that completely enthral me, rather than games I merely like.

If I buy the game, and can't return it, I'll beat it and never play it again. Think of it as buying a bad movie. You still watch it, but yet keep it in your collection. thats what I do, I don't sell games (well try not to)

I try to finish games. I really do. If I really dislike a game then I want to play enough of it so that I can properly articulate and understand why I dislike it. I don't like to arbitrarily hate things for no reason.

But, unfortunately, the problem is...I can't. I usually just can't. When games are that terrible, they usually break me. I can only take so much of forcing myself to sit through them before I'm just like, "AAAAAAAAAAGH!"

Depends on the game. For instance, I hated FF12, but I spent $70 on the pre-order collector edition and I sure as hell wasn't gonna let that piece of shit beat me. Kinda like paying for a shitty movie, it meant suck but my pride won't let me lose to shit.

I once got into an argument with a guy because he said if I didn't play a game through to the end then I had no right to say I didn't like it.

This guy also admitted to buying CD's by bands he hated just so he could have an "informed opinion" on them or whatever.

This makes sense, I mean, you can't really be well informed if you haven't beaten the game. But the fact that you don't WANT to beat the game should be a hint that it is a bad game.

But he was saying I couldn't NOT like the game because I hadn't beaten it, like I literally had no right to say I didn't enjoy it. He even said I had to go back and beat the entire thing to 100% completion before I could decide whether I like it or not. It was bonkers.

I didn't like Dragon Age: Origins, but I finished it. I didnt like Oblivion, yet I finished it.

However, I didn't like Halo 3 or GTA4 and didn't finish them.

So it depends I guess.

So-so. I have the tendancy to play one game a lot then switch but some games (even if I've liked them) don't keep my attached long enough to want to finish it. I started Prince of Persia at the beginning of summer (ironically, whilst I was in Iran) and barely got into the third area because the game was far too repetitive. Mirror's Edge is something else I never got round to finishing. FF13 too, but that game was far FAR too long and tedious to want to finish (I feel sorry for anyone wanting to 100% that). I aim to complete Super Meat Boy at some point ... >.>. Daw of War 2 : Retribution is a game I love (190ish hours played) yet I haven't even started any of the campaigns yet even though single player is what I normally enjoy more just because I haven't bothered too (love Last Stand). Condition Zero and deleted scenes, fun games but completing ..... meh, especially deleted scenes. That game was made in a story like fashion without a story which gave me no incentive to finish it.

Oh, then there's the backlog of games on Steam I need to start .... >.>

Yeah, no I don't think so. Maybe when I was a young teen or something and had a bit more time to sink into games, and try them again if they were too hard, also because I had a much smaller library at the time. But nowadays, hardly enough time to finish the games I DO enjoy, so I will do my damn hardest to get through those first, while prioritizing other life things (career, relationships, health, etc)

For some reason beyond my knowledge, I finished Final Fantasy XIII even though I knew it was bad. It didn't feel like an FF game and it definitely didn't feel fun after the first few hours. I spent about a week getting through it though with the hope that it would be worth it... and it wasn't.

Usually, I don't finish DS or Wii games that I don't like and I didn't finish Monster Hunter Freedom U because it was obnoxiously difficult and I lost patience for it. Probably would have trudged through it, though, if the PSP had a second analogue stick. Thank you, PS Vita.

I did want to at least beat Duke Nukem Forever, the damn Scissor Lift puzzle made me stop and send it back. I might rerent it just so I can at least finish it and complain reasonably.

DNF was pretty good--it had some great level designs, was humorous, and had gameplay that was more than passable à la Half-Life 2--but that puzzle was honestly the game's low ebb.

As for the thread q.--I'll finish them, but only if they're short.

Almost always. I think it's an obsessive compulsive thing.

I mean, first thing that comes to mind is FF13. I hated it the whole way through and I finished it, I think. I killed that orphan thing and got to Pulse - does that count? I even considered going for 100% before I realized how damn tedious it would be.

Also, I finally picked Reach back up last week and finished the campaign so I can trade it in. Would have went for a Legendary run through, but then I remembered that I like to have fun when I play video games.

Nope, If i dislike a game i'm not wasting my precious little free time on it.

I have a nice little collection of games that i like to play and would much rather spend my limited leasure time on those.

Yes and no.
With games like Dynasty Warriors (6?) and Burnout: Revenge, the difficulty was just too much to play without aggrevation.
However, on the other hand, I DID finish DNF...
But generally if difficulty isn't the issue, I'll stomach through to the end.

No, but I rarely buy games I don't like. Between demos, rentals, borrowing, and other sources of info, any actual purchase I make tends to be either a good game that I know I like or some bargain bin discount thingy for like $5 that I don't care if I waste.
