In-Game music. When my friend used to turn the In-Game music down at his house, it used to drive me up the wall. Otherwise, Freedom Fighters soundtrack for Shooters.

Sometimes I mod music into the game, like fallout 3. I changed almost all the music to something classical or drowning poll etc. I found It to have a GREAT EFFECT.

I listen to Initial D music [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q2qxSKS9HNc] when I'm playing racing games. It really gets me pumped and actually helps me focus.

Depends what game, most of the time I am fine with whatever is with the game but if it's unfitting or I think I can do better then I will change it to something else

Occasionally. Sometimes I like the soundtrack the game comes with it, and sometimes even in games that don't have soundtracks I don't want to hear music.

I've always been perfectly happy listening to the in-game soundtrack.

My best (soundtrack - related) experience so far: Tearing through the streets of GTA 3's Liberty City in a hijacked money transport, chased by an army of cop cars with wailing sirens, as the car radio played Mozart's "Finch' han del Vino" on full blast!

For anyone not familiar with this glorious piece of music, here is a link to an unusually spirited performance of it:

It gave the whole situation a great touch of surrealism!

Most of the time I'm on ventrilo, so I don't get to listen to a lot of music when I game. Back before, I played MMO's with winamp, after I've heard most of the ingame tracks. I always play singleplayers with ingame music.

Playing something like Bioshock with Kyuss playing on the background, is like watching Shawshank Redemption, with Kyuss playing in the background.

Playing an MMO with Kyuss on the background, is like being at work with Kyuss on the background.

Most of the time I play music but it depends on the game like I wouldn't listen to music while playing Call of Duty but I would when playing Halo.

Alllll depends on what game I'm playing, but I often listen to my music when playing games.

If I'm playing Mercenaries in Resident Evil 5, I'll listen to Insane by The Arkhams to keep me pumped. But when I'm playing Left 4 Dead I'll just listen to anything and turn on the captions so I don't get Witch-raped while listening to Saliva...

Yes I do play music, but only when the game frustrates me. (Example a really hard level.)

The music soothes me into my clam and normal self.

I almost always never play music in games, because I mainly only play Counter-Strike Source, and footsteps are a very important part of the game... in fact, some people have accused walls because I fired before I could see them. Then again, I have a really good sound card :p

I do play music in racing games, don't need to hear the cut-scenes (Who needs story in an arcade racer?), and because the sound tracks are very unpreferable compared to my Tool/Metallica/Nirvana play list.

I also have skip/pause/back buttons bound to a few function keys. Makes it a lot easier in case I need to hear something, and I don't want to minimize.
