Yes I like being able to see what is going on on the screen, but I'm not on of the people who are counting polygons/pixels (I dont know what their called).

I Guess half of you didn't read the whole OP,

do you care if they are the next best thing to real life.
Its a slight perk if they are AMAZING, but i Guess if a game is shit but the graphis are good you'll have the highest quality of shitty gameplay.

GOOD FOR YOU.

Is think they matter to a point. If it's bloody impossible to see what's going on, yea they matter. But otherwise, No. I played Psychonauts AFTER I played Uncharted 2 (on a HD TV) And I still liked Psychonauts better. So to me graphics don't matter.

Well okay, the poll options aren't extensive enough.

I'd rather play a great game with bad graphics than a bad game with great graphics any day.

However, graphic design is vital to many games. You think pixel art from those 16-bit games is easy to design? It's not. Not at all. It takes a lot of skill to make pixels look good, and it's more than possible.

For that matter, you think Bioshock would have been as atmospheric as it was without the graphics? Without the random trash strewn about, the realistic water streaming into the halls of Rapture?

Graphics are absolutely important. They are not the most important thing about a game, but they are most definitely important.

No, and really a no is not a good answer because of course they matter, graphics are important for any game, good graphics and character/level design can add a lot to the atmosphere and immersion of the game, and are just fundamental to a game (cause you have to see something :p).. but yeah, I get what you were trying to ask and the answer is no, I don't care for the best graphics, if a game has great story and atmosphere with at least decent gameplay I will not care if the graphics are bad.. still having nice graphics is always a bonus as long as you don't sacrifice the rest.

I think graphics are the last thing I care about in games. As long as they're fun and engaging, the characters are interesting, and the story is solid, then I will have a great time playing. This is coming from a guy who thinks the greatest era in gaming was the 16 bit era.

Yes, I dont like when it is too "good". I prefer older but nicer graphic. Pixel art FTW.

Yes, they do matter to a point as terrible graphics detract from the experience but expensive graphics aren't a necessity. What matters is the game, the world you interact with and how FUN it is. Graphics are nice but it is only the icing on the cake.

what? no in the middle choice. I dont care to a certain extent as long as the gameplay is good but still, there is no excuse for a PS3 game to have visuals of a PS3, that just shows the dev is being lazy.

Yes they do, they can help the experience and add another level of enjoyment. It is pretty rare that games sacrifice gameplay for graphics any way, they aren't mutually exclusive.

Well this question is way too general, I don't really mind bad graphics if I can still tell what the hell is going on (good example Warsaw), but graphics can be as good and beautiful as anything but if I can't tell wtf is going on (countless games these days) then fuck it.

So I voted yes, because in that sense I do give a crap about graphics.

Sometimes yes, sometimes no.

If a game looks good, that in no way makes it a good game, but if a game looks okay at best, that doesn't make it any worse of a game.

Yes, some games look so dated and bad that they're almost unplayable (Max Payne and Final Fantasy 7 come to mind) but that doesn't make a game bad.

Voted Yes, because they are important depending on the Art Design and style you're trying to accomplish. Then again, it is the least important aspect in developing a game. There are great looking 16bit games out there that look far better then some games simply because of it's art design.
