Can't give blood due to inherent anaemia, even though I take my medication for it (am shit tired if I don't) is not any use.

Used to, then they got concerned with my so-called 'surprisingly low' blood pressure. Now I can't convince them to take my healthy, O- blood for free.

I miss the cookies.

Done it twice (I'm O-), but I hate needles so I'm not going to do it again under the rationale that I now have a blood debt from everyone else. Maybe after I've used up 2 pints of someone elses.

"Are you a man who has ever had oral or anal sex with a man, with or without a condom?" (from www.blood.co.uk's are you eligible to giv blood test)

The single most retarded screening measure... it seems you can be straight and sleep wih a multitude of of people unprotected and still be able to, however even homosexual oral sex WITH a condom is enough to exlude you....

I have a few times, but not lately. I have AB- blood (rarest blood type), so the Red Cross people are always happy to see me come by and roll up my sleeve.

As far as I know i'm not allowed to until i'm 18.
Really? I gave blood starting at 16. The only condition was that I had to be a certain weight, which I was, barely. It might be different depending on where you live I guess.

Anybody else here A+? We can be transfusion buddies!

I can't until November because I just stepped inside the Malaria Chance Zone for a day in my recent trip to South Africa. I plan to once that time's up though.
Same (Malaria Zone) since I was in Korea. Now that the proper time has passed, I gave blood last month at an event. I plan to again when the chances come up again.

I was going to once, but it was a bad time, we had an important swim meet the next day and our coach forbade us from doing so, due to the fact that we would be wiped out and wouldn't perform well. He isn't a heartless bastard though, he said that if we were serious he would drive us personally to donate blood as soon as the season was over. Didn't take him up on the offer, don't think anyone did. But I'm think I'll be sure to donate next time there is a drive at my school.

Yep. I do it through school and my local hospital. It's a very worthy cause. I mean one of my friends life was saved through donated blood when he was 4.

Besides, feeling a tiny bit woozy for a half hour is nothing when you get compensated by not having to go to class and free movie tickets.

Not being insensitive, but a large majority of AIDS patients are homosexuals. People assume it's transmitted through gay sex, thus they don't want the chance that the blood they're taking from you is HIV positive.

I do, common as dirt A rhesus Positive here though.

Problem is, I'm banned from doing it for a year as I fessed up to having had a needle stick injury at work, got tested myself, and the guy who the suture needle was used on agreed to testing, and it came back clean on both ends. But still, won't let me back until one year post NSI.

A+ here, I'm a fucking subHero in the blood-donation land of the United Kingdoms by giving blood FOUR TIMES.

Although the 3rd time I did give blood, the nurse was busy and made me hold a liter of my body's finest reserve for a minute before she grabbed it. It disturbed me that the bag I held was the same size as my bicep.

The fourth time, I saw my blood and remarked about my previous visit, the nurse replied:

"its our blood now, why would you want to hold it? To spread it on your cornflakes?"

*Twilight* flashed into my head. I laughed and got out of there as fast as my remaining blood allowed me. THEN I SPARKLED!

I'm not old enough yet, but I plan to give blood when I can. I'm B+, but I still think I should donate when I can.

Nope.

I never really considered it. And doing it now is something I don't want to risk with everything I'm trying to do. Maybe I'll do it sometime later.

Yes, I do but I haven't done so in a while mostly because I got a tattoo not too long ago.

I am B+, too... don't ever be dissuaded by having a more common blood type. If you are young and healthy, you can easily give up some blood to help an other person.
