I like PC and Apple equally, but I know a lot of people on this site hate Apple.

But I also know how popular Ipods and such are.

So who here hates Apple, but still has an Ipod or what not?

EDIT: added new poll options

I only have an Ipod because my old work was ending the employee discount on electronics and the Zune had not yet come to Canada. When it eventually dies I'll upgrade to the Zune.

I hate Apple because I own an Apple product. The iPod's disgustingly poor sound quality and gimmicky, shiny exterior contrast so badly that I am actually offended by it's existence in my home. I now own and use my Sony Walkman, and it is fantastic.

As I said earlier in another thread about Apple, if they got their act together and produced something that has real quality in it's supposed specific area, such as music quality for the iPod, rather than focusing on gimmicks and apps to hide their abysmal lack of it, I would love Apple. They have great style, and look much better than everything on the market, and the interfaces are always appealing and simple to use. But that doesn't cover up for the major flaws.

I wouldn't say I hate them but I have had customer service issues before which has made me get angry at them. Plus I deliberately start arguments with people about whether the Mac or the PC is better sometimes but whether that is hate or my love of arguing with people is up for debate. I have an iPhone though and I think (truthfully) that it is the greatest thing conceived by humankind...except for its DIRE battery life - Apple, why can't I play games for more than about 4/5 hours without recharging it...WHY?

I do not hate apple, I just don't care for the majority of their product line. Their computers have that whole built in apple tax nonsense (that is, it costs significantly more to achieve a given level of performance when compared to the pc), but that was never really what stayed my hand. It has always been the issue of entertainment software. Until recently, there simply weren't a lot of games being delivered to the platform, which kept me from purchasing an apple product for a home computer and the staggering price to performance ratio ensured that I have not yet purchased an apple laptop and instead just went with a PC.

When it comes to mobile devices, apple lost mindshare when the iPod cost significantly more than the Creative Zen that sat next to it. When it came time to replace that device, I opted for the Zune (they were on sale at the time). Strangely, in one fell swoop they captured my attention when I switched cellular providers and acquired an iPhone. Since that purchase I have not actually used any other portable media device (PSP, DS, Zune and so forth).

Apple has produced quality products.

I have a MacBook Pro and it is great.

Also what kind of Ipod do you have?

I have an Ipod Classic (which runs on the old software) and it works just fine, maybe the new Ipod software is wack?

I like my iPhone to a certain degree, but I hate Apple's ethos.

They built their userbase around shitty slogans that didn't make sense and users who were too stupid to use "PCs". One thing I never got was their whole Mac vs PC thing: a Mac is a Personal Computer, just one built by one company and branded.

Their whole style over substance thing is evident not only in their hideously priced products, but the design of their company image. I had to get my iPhone replaced not that long ago and I had to "make an appointment" at "The Genius Bar" in a shop where their products were laid out like cars in a showroom. While I appreciate that the style of the place was appealing, I quickly forgot that I was in an electronics shop rather than a fashion boutique.

Thats odd, I voted no yet there are only yes votes...

Anyway I am not fond of the Apple company in the slightest and I do not own a single Apple product. I do however have to post on this stupid Mac computer since my computer died and is not being fixed or replaced any time soon...

Stupid Apple Fruitfucker technology.

Hate is too strong of a word, but I don't like their business practices anymore than Microsoft. I don't currently own any Apple products.

I can't speak for the quality of their computers, I've just never had the money to try them out. The cost for a high performance one is way out of my budget right now.

But I've used an iPod Nano 2nd and 4th gen, as well as my friend's 1st gen Touch. Even with my own earbuds, rather than the standard earphones, I found the iPod to sound really flat and a bit buzzy. I tried changing a few of the settings in iTunes but nothing really improved it.

As far as I'm aware, it's because a lot of the sound levels are lost when iTunes flattens the music format during synchronising.

I'm not exactly an audiophile, but after comparing the quality of my 4th gen Nano to my Walkman S series (both from around the same year, so it's a fair comparison), the Walkman had a really rich tone and much greater bass levels, since it stores the files as they are rather than flattening upon synch.

If they mixed that quality of tone with the iPod's great styling and smooth interface, I'd be sold.

I have what I think is a second generation iPod Nano, and from what I know it is no different from any other MP3 player from that generation apart from the fact that it costs more and needs iTunes to work. (Most MP3 players, from what I've heard, just let you drag and drop files.)

I don't like Apple, but I dislike Microsoft far more. At least the Help and Support people weren't utter dickheads with me when I wanted to know how to get them to repair THEIR fecking defective product *grumble*.

I own an iPod, but I still use my older MP3 when it plays up on me.

I'd happily buy a Mac if it meant I didn't have to run Windows ever again....

I don't hate Apple, I got a Ipod Touch 32GB, what I "hate" is the people that have a mac/Iphone/anything else apple related for no good reason and all they do is to brag about it.

When I was in High School and some of my friends got a new mac all they did was trash-talk people who had a PC, and when I asked them why they got their macs all I got was a shrug and: "They cost much more and are more stylish, therefore they are better" /facepalm

I can understand those who use it for editing movies, pictures etc, the mac is after what I've heard better at that, but if only get a mac because it's "stylish and pricy", then I don't understand why.
