It was fun at the time. But I got bored of it fast, it got overtaken by Battlefield, and now I'm done with that and unable to return to either.

Bring on the Reach multiplayer beta and Red Dead Redemption.

I hate it simply because I see it for what it is. A greedy publisher employing a greedy production company to deliver a half-arsed game with a non-sensical plot because NO ONE PLAYZ SINGALPLAYA ANYMORRRRRR! Though from what I hear the multiplayer was bastardized anyway.

I could go on but my post will reach far beyond the TLDR range.

Hated everything about it. What it didn't just copy from CoD4, it ruined beyond measure.

That includes plot, characters, maps, multiplayer, balance (which was barely there to begin with), etc etc.

I would really like to love it, but as i'm a spoiled little pc child, the lack of ded servers really hurts.. i played a good 15 hours or so during the free steam weekend, and the lag isnt completely horrible, but there were still a fair few occasions where i would empty an entire clip into a guys face, only to die and see on his kill cam that he wasnt quite where he was on my screen...

basically, i would have loved this game if the pc version didnt get screwed over, but as it is, it just frustrates me because of how good it COULD have been...

Too many explosives, overpowered weapons, overpowered perks, terrible maps, glitches, hacks, exploits, griefers, 10 year olds, and L33T douches for multiplayer to be fun anymore.

Single player was enjoyable while it lasted.
Too many explosives? Friend, you can NEVER have too many explosives.

Anyway, I don't hate it. As far as the multiplayer goes, I have fun just kinda running and gunning/ Sniping since it's really all I can do (that, and C4. I loves me some C4).
The single player was fun, and getting past the fact the story's silly at best, it's a good summer blockbuster plot wise and the campaign was fun (not to mention you had so many invincible allies), and Spec.Ops. Is solid.

There's nothing to hate about it. It fills my need for bullets and explosions untill Body Count comes out.

It's alright. I prefer every FPS game I've played to it, but it's quite fun with friends in private matches and such.

I don't hate the game, I just hated that, (considering that I don't play online) I spent $60 on a game that I completed in 6 hours.

Do I hate Modern Warfare 2?

No. I acknowledge that there are positive things to come from the ordeal, even if it as the expense of some pretty nasty bugs and otherwise unfair deaths (multiplayer) or even the short and otherwise convoluted single player story.

Granted, I can mention 20 games off the top of my head that would be a better use of my time than Modern Warfare 2, but I do not hate it by a long shot.

Honestly, if it weren't for the hackers and some of the more unbalanced weapons, I'd love it.

Tried it on my friend's PS3, shit for 3 hours. I thought a bit, and am getting BF:BC2 soon. I think that's better than all the 1337 h4xx0rz everywhere else on MW2.

It's a pretty terrible game, but I don't mind playing matches with friends.

I can't stand people who insist on being called "PoThEaDxSNiiP3R" or whatever though, jesus, keep marijuana references out of videogames, please.

I really like this game. The single player was short, but enjoyable, the spec-ops was pretty damn sweet, and the multi-player was very engaging and entertaining. I really liked this game, but I didn't love it like I did World at War.

Something I don't quite get, aside from why hippies smoke pot and such, is the reason why there are so many MW haters. I mean sure, Activision produced it, and the plot was a bit insane, but I felt it was fun. And I'm still playing the multiplayer, even with the glitching, hacking and Karachi. Because I am genuinely entertained by it.

So what do you, the forum community think?
A lot of people hate it for being a full (or in the case of PC, over priced) game with less new content than your average expansion pack. It was on an old engine, had an abysmally short singleplayer (which some people did like, however I and many others felt it was mediocre at best) and had by far the worst multiplayer of the series (I mean in terms of mechanic and gameplay). Then there's the whole dedicated servers issue on the PC platform, further ruining the multiplayer experience. Also there's the community, the community, from what little I've seen, is filled with doucehbags.

These rather notable shortcomings, coupled with the games huge, undeserved runaway success, make it a very, very easy game to hate. Hell, people passionately hate halo for it's undeserved success, and it's not even a bad game.

I don't hate MW2, but I do think it is fairly overrated.
I also think that the fact that you can dual wield shotguns is absolutely retarded for a game that pretends to be realistic.

I won't go to very far lengths to defend it, but I found it not bad.
While I don't want any other people going the same route, I will admit that as long as the matchmaking system WORKS and doesn't cause extreme lag, I have little opposition. As for the weapons, let me put it this way: They made everyone overpowered. Everyone has their own chance to apply some really absurd mechanic and set of perks to themselves to dominate. Maybe you use FMJ, track the tiniest movement with your motion sensor, and blow people away from across the map. Maybe you carry 5 explosive weapons and blow everyone up. Maybe you rush around like a zergling knifing people. The only way you're going to be weak is if you limit yourself to the "pro lo4dout"...
M4A1 Assault Rifle
Bandolier
Red Dot Sight
Stopping Power
Steady Aim

Yes, the game is unrealistic, and now goes far beyond the initial assault rifle setup. But that doesn't necessarily mean it's BAD...just refresh your viewpoint and it's still playable.

Why the heck would I hate it? The only problem with it is the occasional plot-holes and the short length of the Single Player. Other than that, it's an awesome game.
Good point. By the same token, the only problem with Nazi Germany was that they wanted to propegate the master race and take the world by force. Other than that, it was awesome.
Well, actually, there was NOTHING wrong with Nazi Germany aside from the whole little "jew-killing" matter. Just about everyone with enough force tried to take the world by force for no better goals. Mongolians, Macedonians, Romans, British, French and so on. And their governments at the time were no better then Nazi Germany's. I don't see how Monarchy is that much better then Fascism - your personal freedoms are screwed either way, you know? And at least there are SOME laws when it comes to Fascism. A monarch doesn't need laws, he can do whatever.

In some ways, the whole Nazi Germany affair is kind of inspiring. And it certainly teaches a lot of things about so called "human nature". The German people were the desperate friendless nerd being beat up by jocks from some generic school teen movie for like 2 or 3 decades by the time WW2 broke out. And yes, the conditions inflicted on Germany upon their defeat in World War 1 were VERY debilitating and damaging to the country's economy and spirit. No wonder they could be stirred with a dream of being superior then everyone else promised by a charismatic speaker. And jews were just a scapegoat, but then again, pretty much everyone disliked Jews back then. You just have to look at history, there were major religious clashes between Jews and Christians in Europe. Jews were THE scapegoat for a lot of things, and they were kind of an acceptable target back then. Even the whole money stereotype was in a way created by Christianity.

And no, I'm not propagating violence against the Jews or the Christians. It just pisses me off how people look at Nazi Germany. Sure, they weren't the nicest bunch in many ways, but it's not a reason to pretend that they were some kind of shitty 2-dimensional comic book villain.

People should get the fuck over the whole "Oh noes Nazis are the epitome of eeeevul" thing and look at the rest of history.

But then again, winners tend to get the right to demonize the losers, so this is pretty pointless.

Now when it comes to MW2... I dislike it for all the reasons most PC players do.

Y'know, the usual stuff. No dedicated servers, for the major issue.

And personally, I'm not a big fan of that type of FPS games. I don't find so called "modern warfare" that interesting, the story (which I played despite not buying the game, yay for game sharing) is kind of lame and too political in a bad sense for me. And I didn't find the multiplayer fun at all.

For my FPS games, I'd rather stick with L4D and TF2. And maybe some science fictiony ones, although I haven't played too many since going on a huge Unreal Tournament spree back in 2000. And Half Life 2 multiplayer doesn't count =o
