I have one, but I rarely carry it. Only when I'm meeting someone somewhere that I'm not overly familiar with, and it becomes a useful coordination tool. Most of the time I see it as a burden, texting is slow and cumbersome, and some people don't know when to stop...and for some reason they get annoyed when you phone them instead of text replying.

Being in Sweden, where cellphones caught on very quickly, yes.

I've had one since I were in 4th grade. Although that one was one of those hueg bricks. It was a hand-me-down from my dad, and giving it to me rather than selling it for 1/10 of its retail price were the more sensible choice, since I were a bit of a roamer. You never knew where I was, and I never called my parents to let them know. It drove my parents insane, so a cellphone came in handy. The battery lasted for like a day though.

My first 'real' cellphone, the first new cell I've ever owned, was an Ericsson T20s.
Man, that was a good phone.
Relatively speaking.

I'm now regretting not including a number of makes in the poll. Also surprised at the number of no's.

There are so many makes, you'd probably do better to include either manufacturer or operating system.

I have an HTC Aria running Android 2.1. I just got it and I'm loving how compact it is for a smartphone.

Not that many.

Those are operating systems, not makes. A more complete list would be:
Android
Apple
Symbian
Windows Mobile
Blackberry OS
Palm
Manufacturer Proprietary OS
Other

That covers most phones worldwide. Not including Symbian would lead to many "Other" options.

Well I'm typing this post on a Sanyo Katana LX, so yes, yes I do in fact have a mobile phone. Although I really only use it for the Web, playing Katamari, and sometimes calling people.

I didn't want overlaps. I've never heard of Symbian in my life.

There aren't any overlaps in that list. Symbian is the OS used on many Nokia phones, they have the majority of the mobile phone OS marketshare worldwide.

I guess people just say they have a Nokia.

Shame that list will go to waste.

Considering that Symbian is used on phones other than Nokia, and has a market share greater than BlackBerry, Android and iOS combined, it deserves a place on your list far, far more than the two choices that you gave.
Even more surprising that I've never heard of it then. Wonder why that is.
