I usually have my dog at my feet, warming them. Do you let your dog/cat/other sit or lounge around you while you browse the web? Or do you shoo them away?

The only time my cat comes into my room is to bug me, so I usually either follow her to see what she wants (if anything, sometimes she just wants attention) or shoo her away.

Or I just stop what I'm doing and pet her for ten minutes and she leaves willingly. Either way.

I keep my cat outside because well....he's stupid and sheds to much. Now if I had a dog, of course I'd have him(her) next to me.

My cat usually wanders around the house. He'll stop by for me to pet him once, then be on his way.
But sometimes he does decide it's time for me to go to bed and be a nice little pillow, so he'll jump on top of my desk and sit down in front of the monitor.
My reaction varies from "Dear god, I hate you cat" as I'm petting and gently pushing him to a secondary table.
"Ok, ok, fine I'll go to bed, you evil little demon" as he trots down the hall after me.
And, "No, go away" as I toss him onto the sofa, leading him to go and sulk somewhere very visible in hopes I'll apologize for the great indignity.

My cats scratching post that's on my desk has a little plateau on top for her to sit and look outside so she is always there. Shes not allowed outside because she doesn't play well with other cats.... Usually she just foams at the mouth and hisses and growls for about twenty minutes after they are gone.

Overall i find it comforting having her so close by.

I have three dogs and two of them are laying in the living room with me right now...they just like being close to people, they act like little kids lol. When I am in my bed room it's a different story. It's really small and sometimes they all three want to come in at the same time. They are big dogs so in my room it's a one dog minimum most of the time.

Yay! First pet-less reply!

So, no, I do not. Though having a kitten around wouldn't bother me.

I don't mind my cats being around most of the time they just kinda follow me so not much I can do about it. Although I wish I could teach my cats what "Starcraft time" is. Its very hard to play when one will latch onto my arm and the other likes to touch the keys when they lite up.

Mine usually is right beside me on the floor or very close, when she was younger she would lay down on the desk making me reach over her to the keyboard.

My labrador likes to sleep just behind my chair, or on his bed which is near the wall behind me.

My cat likes to sit on the window sill which is just beside me, or sit in between the keyboard and monitor when he really wants attention and love. He rolls around there, plays with the mouse cord, toys with pens and taps my keyboard to make the volume increase and decrease or mute.

If I'm sitting on the front part of my chair he likes to curl up behind me too :)

They're great, just lovely, quiet, companionable animals who mostly do their own thing, but when they're nearby it's just nice :)

The landlord doesn't allow us to keep any pets. I had to set my cats free upon moving.

But even when I still had them, they didn't come near the computer, I think they were afraid or something.
