I have plenty of acquaintances, people I talk to but only a few people I would call friends. I go to a relatively small school so have the unfortunate problem of not being able to choose the people I hang around with daily. I can't wait to leave and meet new, more interesting people who aren't complete dickheads.

EDIT: And I don't have a girlfriend, which sucks. It would compensate for the above.

never been the mass friendilaiser guy, i dont get a best friend in a month, my best friend i have known since i have been 3 years old and we have never really had bad moments, as for other i have a few, sadly they have moved

I've got 4 very close friends whom i adore completely.
& i just looked at my msn to see how many people I have added that I speak to and call my friend: 153.

I've got two seperate groups of friends though.

One group is people in school which accounts for 3 of the close friends and 15 or so of the rest. I don't spend all that much time with them outside of school.

The other is people from "town". People i've met randomly, through other people or whatever. 1 close friend is one of these people. These are the ones I tend to go to hang out, get drunk/high, or just do anything in general with.

I can vouch for this personally. I have a smaller group of friends, but they're the close kind of people that I'll be keeping in contact with long after high school's over and all the other jerks go off to fuck up their lives.

moved from a school to a college within another school. i have friends from school who i have known for 5 years, 4 of which are in my band so we're pretty close and then there are the friends i made at college who have known each other for ages and i just appeared as the new guy so made friends with all pretty quick.
