People that I hang out with on a more-than-once-every-month-or-two basis, no. In most cases, when I call my friends to make plans to hang out, they don't answer. When I message them on Facebook, they don't respond. When I wait for them to contact me instead, I set myself up for a disappointment.

I suppose it doesn't help that 5 out of 7 of my friends (as opposed to acquaintances) live far away.

I have about 5 quite close friends. But I'm fairly well acquainted with most of the guys in my school. Just a shame that girls would rather [insert funny, but not horribly gory action here] then talk to me...

I have a few good friends (though since I moved away the bonds are straining) but I played the role of "fat, happy guy" in high school so I am well-liked.

Jesus, whoever answers 'no' has some very serious social problems they should get started on fixing.

I have around 4 good friends. All from the University. We drink, discuss life and stuff.
We have very different interests and hobbies, but still get together on the basis of talking about useless stuff.

So it's more of a 'gang' hang-out.

Yeah, sure I do. 3 very close ones, and several more in my social circle. I love any single of those guys.

I used to have a few, then they all had the gall to move away for work. Now I suppose I'm a little on the sadly pathetic side! :p

I suppose I could make an effort to go out and make new ones, but I'm pretty lazily anti-social. It's kind of funny because I am an extremely loyal and fierce friend when I do have such people in my life.

I make the effort to keep my lovelife active, but not to start friendships for some reason. Maybe I should change that, maybe not. As it stands, I'm extremely happy in my life so...maybe I'm just an innately solitary kind of guy?

Actually, I may be an internet addict, but yes, I have several RL friends who I hang with quite frequently when my schedule allows.

I have college and school friends, i don't really think of them as anything other than that because the most i talk to them outside of those places is a 30 second msn convo.

I became close to one of my high school friends though once i'd left for college. It's nice to have someone actually want to spend time with you.
Once i get to know people better i'm less shy with them too. For once i know someone well enough that i can just be myself around them.

My college friends are still good friends, just wish i could spend more time with them outside of college and actually get to know them.

I have one friend and she means the world to me. Other than her I have a few distant acquaintances, but that is it.

Oh wow... I was under the impression that my fellow Escapists, by comparison to other gamers, were relatively social people but it seems there are a few recluses in here after all

Me? I've got a girlfriend and loads of close friends whom I see every day. Mind you I am studing drama at university so everyone knows everyone since we act and perform together, so I know and hang out with loooooaaads of my fellow students
Since I do drama I'm a very loud, exciteable and antsy person. I never get shy or uncomfortable and never have a problem meeting new people, the total opposite to the stereotypical gamer

I'm just wondering if there any fellow recluses in here.

Yup, all I do is study and play video games. I occasionally have periods of ennui, but I always come out of them tougher and much more callous to these petty things called "feelings". Forums and three to four AIM buddies are my only social outlets.

But yeah...
I tend to have very close friends, I also have online friends however I value the former above the latter. That has no implication to you what so ever, the annonymity that the internet provides only tends to make people more honest (or they could also be a whole lot more dishonest I guess) so I suppose in a way people on the internet would have more chance of understanding the real you rather than friends irl.

I have three or four (and several acquaintances) IRL, two of them being close friends. Ever since I moved I've pretty much shut myself of from the world. I mean I tried to be friendly at the high school I was attending but either no one liked me or if they did they stopped talking to me so I just stopped talking to just about everyone. Before I moved I actually had a good amount of friends maybe 12 to 15.

I just don't handle interactions with my fellow man very well. Online I also have a couple, not too much though. I had a girlfriend for a while irl too but it just didn't work out.

I'm content with what I've got though.

Of course I have friends. I'd have to try very hard to NOT have friends. None of my current social circle made their way there because a relationship was sought after - it just happned. I sat next to them for long enough in school or worked with them long enough that the only thing that could have resulted was friendship unless I intentionally sabatoged the process.

I've lots of friends. Are most of them douchebags? Yes. The weird thing is: two of my closest friends moved to West Deptford and then to Florida?
