It varies HEAVILY, which is why so many people are keen to label it as just plain "retarded."

My sister has Asperger's and is a high-functioning Autistic. It's really hard to deal with her being around because my mother is so bad at taking care of her. My mother constantly tells people about how she only understands things in black and white, yet she herself will also tell me to "pick your battles" when it comes to her. She'd probably be fine if it wasn't for my mother's treatment of her condition, but that isn't the case. It's built a lot of resentment between the three of us. I can't wait to save up enough to move out.

Isn't it spelled 'Asperger's' syndrome? In any case, I have not been diagnosed with it or any autistic spectrum disorder, nor have I suspected that I have either.

Aspergers is so often self diagnosed you can't trust anyone who says it.

I'm pretty sure I don't have it. I'm not really a social butterfly at school but I don't recall being diagnosed.

First off, bolded bit. They think it's genetic, but no one is really sure of the exact cause. As of now, genetic makes that most sense.

Second, I have Asperger's Syndrome. I was diagnosed at age six.

Only about 1 in about 75,000 people have aspergas syndrome (I have it, looked online) but every 3 out 4 of those people are males. So, if we round it up, about 89,000 people in the world have it, and 22,500 girls have it. ( I hope that's right)

Also, my grandfather on my mother's side had it, but my mother did not acquire it. It is probably a recessive gene.

actually yes. was diagnosed by manny a psychologist when I was little, It kind of sucks. talking on forms like this is as close as I can get to having social interactions without having panic attacks. I never look people in the eyes because I just cant, I suck at most subjects in school except for art because I can just sit down and concentrate on a drawing for hours at a time.
