I have it, hate it, but it lets me keep track of my friends in the States. I only have 40-something friends anyway, and I consider three of them my friends, about twenty are relatives, and five are my dad's friends who want to keep track of me. The rest are people who added me because they want their friend list to be bigger.
I made an account a year or so ago just to see what all the hullabaloo was about...from the day I made it and added my first 15 "friends" (who somehow knew i was going to make one and had the send friend request button ready to send almost instantly), I never touched it for 5 months and got e-mails by the boatloads of people from my school who I barely know, didn't know, or didn't care to get to know sending me invites. I also got a nice e-mail anytime my friend's cousin's mom's old roommate's dog took a shit on her carpet. So naturally, having had my account for about 8 months and having gone on it twice, I deleted it. Making sure my last status updates mocked the facebook status update craze as much as possible. "Is looking for the link to delete his account" "Found the link to delete his account" "Is deleting his account". Sadly, I'm going to probably feel the need to re-activate it because being my last year at school, I'm going to want to keep in touch with some of the people I actually want to talk to.
No...seems pretty lame. I did look up a few old friends when my friend left the page up on my browser...depressing.
Have had my profile for a good two years, wouldn't want to be without it.. It helps me keep in touch with my friends in England, that I can't afford to call all the time. And from next month and on, it'll be for my friends and family in Denmark, who I won't be able to phone once a day. 
I never add people I don't know or like, recently deleted 2/3 of all my friends on there, so it really was only for the people I actually wanna stay in touch with, I don't play Farmville or anything else on there, it really is just for writing, and I find it pretty damn easy to keep it that way.

Got other ways of keeping in touch with friends even if they live in china/japan or the US (I live in europe). As for talking i use my own ventrilo server instead so can talk to em over the net whenever i want.
