Of course.
It's the polite thing to do.
Although, I do get irritated when you let people through and they don't even register you're there.
I also have a '5-second' rule: If you're more than 5 seconds away from the door when I open it, I ain't keeping it open.
I'll make an exception if they're carrying lots of stuff.

i do if the next person is close enough, you'd be surprised how often people are surprised that you were polite to them. that little smile and thank you you get makes it all worth it. because you know you just made somebody's day a little better.

I do, if someone is within a reasonable distance anyway. I'm not going to wait for ages.
It's pretty much an automatic response. I wish more people would thank me though.
yeah, so long as they aren't too far away, its kind of a habit. i dont really mind if people dont thank me though, i dont really expect thanks for such a small thing as that, and i get some anyway, so its fine.

If the person behind me is within the distance of 6 yards, yes. Although, a few days ago I held the door for my friend when he was a 100 feet anyway. He felt obligated, so he ran the distance. What a great friend I am- secretly motivating my friend to loose weight :)

As long as its a reasonable distance, the number of people are reasonable and I'm not in a hurry sure I'll open the door.
Edit: If someones carrying/pushing something heavy or has their hands full I'll go out of my way to help.

I always hold open doors for other people. Its common courtesy.

Although sometimes I forget there's someone behind me and then I feel like an ass.

I do it all the time. I'm a gentleman. I was never taught to, I do it because it feels right.

I helped two old ladies cross the road at the mall a month n so back.

Though actually looking on the door thing I only do it for little kids or adults and the elderly. Teenagers and pre-teens be damned. They're lazy ass' can open the door for themselves.

Always, even for guys. If I'm in a rush or no-one's close behind, I throw it open to give the next person more time. It doesn't slow me down, overall, and it's more efficient for the next person. If everyone though that way escalators would be the fast bits, rather than bottlenecks.

Yes. Often to the point of being an annoyance.
"No, after you."
"I SAID AFTER YOU!"
"Don't make me push you."

I don't see a reason not to.
Exact words. I hold doors for people if they are nearby and am grateful if they start running. Recently had my first door holding competition with someone (2 people hold open 2 nearby doors for each other and refuse to leave till the other goes through their door.) I won because I had my PSP with me :D.

Wow! I didn't think anyone would reply so quickly. I removed what I had said from my post actually because I realized it sounded kinda creepy, I just notice patterns.

I usually hold the door open. However if one of my close friends is following close behind me, I often try to close the bloody door as quickly as possible yep we're weird and treat that as some sort of game, or at least I do.

Of course. If they're attractive.

I'm kidding, I hold doors open for just about everyone. Even the uglies. :D

Well, of course I do. I mean, It's only polite.

If It's any consolation, I also remove my "news-time" fedora every time I enter a building.
