There was suppose to be some H.P. Lovecraft reference in the Dunworth Building on one of the corners of Capital Wasteland in Fallout 3, but according to people, it's the creepiest location in the game.

Nope, never heard of him.

To be fair, although he had several mythological 'cycles' and called upon work by other writers in his inner circle, not to mention his works when he was trying to imitate Lord Dunsany, it's pretty common and completely acceptable to refer to most of his creations under the umbrella term of the 'Cthulhu Mythos'. Calling people retarded for having a different opinion? That's just low, not to mention arrogant.
I'm not referring to anyone specifically, but people will claim to know the full body of Lovecraft's writing just because they've heard "Cthulhu" tossed around a few times online. That's retarded.
Ok, fair enough, that IS pretty annoying :D

I own two or three books of Lovecraft's stories, though admittedly I haven't finished them all. I've read quite a few of them by now, like "The Call of Cthulhu," of course, and "The Case of Charles Dexter Ward," "At the Mountains of Madness," and "The Dunwich Horror." Those are the big ones, and I've read a score of the shorter ones, too. I sure like me some H.P. Lovecraft.

Shadow Out of Time is a person favorite.

The marriage of that and Shadow Over Innsmouth for the narrative in CoC: DCoTE (Xbox 1 / PC) made me gleeful.

Ironically your poll misses out the group you belong to, which is also the response I was looking for, ah well

If you mean do I follow the art of being manly - yes

If you, however, meant the website that a quick google search has shown me then no - UNTIL NOW.

I have compiled all the completed works into a single PDF file. Now, I believe that after 75 years, copyrighted material lose their restrictions and can be distributed freely (in the USA, that is). If I am wrong, please correct me in this.

If I am right, I would be happy to post a link for download instead of you having to purchase the books.

Yes, I have a copy of the necronomicon on the bookshelf behind me. I still haven't finished it, about 2/3rds of the way through. Genius, pure awesome, one of the best books ever. Need i say more?

Read it, loved it.

(Some of it. Well, most of it. Call of Cthulhu isn't his best story by far, in my opinion. That would go to the Dunwich Horror.)
I preferred colour out of space myself. My favourite one though, I can't remember its name. Its the one with the escape artist underneath the pyramids.
"Color Out of Space" was damn awesome. Certainly one of his best. Another is the one where the traveller takes refuge in a house that belongs to who is revealed to be a cannibal at the end.

I've heard of him, and read a few of his stories, which were pretty good. I got into him through Fallout 3, when I learned that the Dunwich Building was a homage to his works.

Lovecraft is awesome. My favorite stuff by him is the Dream Cycle, although I enjoy a good Cthulu Mythos story every now and then too. This thread is making me want to re-read The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath, The Cats of Ulthar and At the Mountains of Madness. One of these days I need to get around to reading The Call of Cthulu itself, but I can't seem to find any collections that include it without ordering online. It doesn't help that the people who work at the bookstores around here have apparently never heard of him; you know you're in trouble when you ask for Lovecraft and you get sent to the romance section.

By the way; has anyone seen the random Lovecraft story generator [http://www.darkicon.com/lovecraft.htm]?

All of his work that I've found is real expensive, so I haven't read it. Also, the local library refuses to let anyone touch their collectors section, which is where all of it is! Grrr... What's the point of books if noones allowed to read them, eh?

You can read all of his works online for free. But I understand if you wish to read physical copies :D It gives a completely different feel, especially if you want to read him wrapped up in blankets on a couch on a dark and stormy night. /clichés

Anyway, I've read him and I love him. I really love his shorter stories like The Music of Erich Zann, The Cats of Ulthar, Beyond the Wall of Sleep, Polaris and others. Call of Cthulhu might be really hyped and all, but overall, it's a true masterpiece. I also love At the Mountains of Madness and Lurking Fear. Well, I could go on and mention everything he wrote actually, because although his stories do have certain similarities, each story takes something else you thought is just an ordinary thing and he turns it into horror. I've never looked at penguins the same way after At the Mountains of Madness. And that's just one of many things that I've never looked at the same way after Lovecraft. He was truly a master of horror.

I'm not in love with all of Lovecraft's works, but there are some fun reads in there.

I really like Lovecraft. I'm ploughing through Omnibus 1: At the mountain of madness now.

Some of my favourite stories are: Rats in the walls, The outsider, The music of Erich Zann and In the vault.

I've not only heard of Cthulu and H.P. Lovecraft, I had a geometry teacher who told me about a bunch more of his works that I haven't read, and I love his work.

The Rats in the Walls is the first story I had ever read. The man is a genius.
