136, I think. A "High" mark for the test I've taken. Consequentially, I believe I don't have the mental capacity for such a result, but I don't want to take another test, because I did it for fun at one time and don't want to do it again.

I have never checked mainly because I couldn't really care less, and I can't find any on the internet that don't cost money/sign me up to some dating site. I did take an "Are you a Psychopath?" test.
I am, by the way.

Edit: I also took this test in my last school year, over two days. So, it's probably lower now.

I took a test a couple of years back to see if I was smart enough to join Mensa, and they said I had an IQ of 154, but that was a couple of years ago and I'm sure that the volume of alcohol I've consumed since then has knocked it down a few dozen points :p

Wow, everyone on here is at least 'gifted' and we have several geniuses.
Unless the test is administered by someone who is actual a specialist in this field it's pretty damn inaccurate. 100 is average; IQ tests were originally made to prove if someone was retarded or not; not really to test for advanced knowledge.

I had to do such a thing when I applied for Police Work. Mine? 111. Barely above average but by no means 'gifted'.

This thread is pointless if you just write scores

There are dozens of different tests measuring IQ. Someone mentioned he had 170, which is an impossible score on the test I've taken. The scales differ a lot, so write what test were you taking or just type "pretty high" or "avarage".
Additionally, IQ was designed to say "Are you retarded or Not?". If your IQ is over 80, it doesn't matter.

I've scored a 164 on the Stanford Binet.

But I've also scored a 119 on it at a later date. (I got smashed on the numeric reasoning - off day... blah)

I would suggest (as would many researchers, who strongly question the accuracy and reliability of intelligence quotient tests), that results can vary significantly based on a wide range of psychological and environmental factors for one person.

Perhaps the most condemning thing about IQ tests is that they were never intended as a measurement of intelligence. They were intended to identify 'problem areas', and then a scoring system was later created for them.

I'm having real trouble believing half of these. To give you a frame of reference, in "Flowers for Algernon", a Sci-fi book about a man who has surgery to increase his intelligence, when he's last tested he has an IQ of 180. He's considered a genius.

I seriously doubt anyone on the Escapist is a genius.

Ok, I didn't know this. This may explain it.

The problem is, how many people have taken a real IQ test? I had to take one back in High School for some reason, and it was over the course of three days. Pattern recognition, spacial perception, memory tests like reciting back progressively longer strings of numbers in reverse order... Followed by a fairly difficult multiple choice test on various subjects that took several hours to complete.

It was fun, I'd like to do it again and see how difficult it is these days. I scored above average, but the actual score is fairly irrelevant unless someone else has taken the same test.

And then there's the online 100 question multiple choice "tests".

Last time i checked the power scanner said... 9000!!!

Honestly though several of you have mentioned different scales that you can be scored on. So in fact...this is all pretty pointless. And honestly i strongly doubt that every single person who is posting has an above avg IQ. That just seems a little fishy to me. As for me... never taken one..doubt i ever will. I dont really see the point other than rubbing it in anothers face.

There are actually only two recognized IQ tests.
The Weschler and the Stanford Binet... and the SB has fallen out of favour with psychologists.
The Weschler is probably universally accepted as a more reliable and accurate measure of intelligence, but the SB is often administered in addition, or in it's stead because it offers a better frame of reference as it has been in widespread use and studied since the 1920's, and many psychologists simply feel they are more familiar with the results of the SB.

(Second year Dynamics of Behaviour comes in handy for the first time since University)
